The links I gave show that it was in the twenties when woman began cutting off their hair because of their new roles. What were their new roles?

Cutting of the hair was a sign of rebellion.

Many of the women began asserting their rights at that time. They took off the covering, bobbed their hair, shortened their dresses. Study history this is not that hard to find.

You asked which Scripture I use to show that a woman who chops off her hair is a feminist. I use 1 Cor 11 to show that it is a shame for a woman to have shorn or shaven hair.

The feminists were the first to chop of their glory.

It was not the godly Christian women who began chopping off their hair.

The Bible says it is a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven. I take that literally.

FYI - A feminist is one who believes men and women should be treated equally. That does not mean that feminists believe men & women should be treated the same.

Now there are extremist organizations that attempt to give greater power to one gender over another that call themselves feminist, but that doesn't mean that they are. There are no legal rights that one gender should have that another should not.

If Roman Catholics required their women to cover their heads, we'd be accusing them of promoting works based salvation.

I see that diane was successful in having my post deleted. Well I did not violate the rules but dr. griffin deleted it anyway. I guess the TRUTH HURTS. Both are cowards.

That's a very harsh thing to say.
If you broke the rules, you gotta pay. I didn't get to see the post, so I don't know. But I'm sure that there was no malice intended.

Jailminister had posted a KJVO vs NIV post on this thread showing what he perceives to be error in that translation. That belongs on the versions thread and not here.

I'm certainly NOT a coward, Jailminister. I've been corrected for breaking rules before and those present can tell you that I didn't name call or lash out...

What I said is TRUTH. Diane falsely complained and Dr Griffin, dictatorial delted it. He pays the bills and he can do what he wants to do, so that is his priviledge. But it was wrong. Some one responded to me using scriptures from the NIV and I repeated them from KJV(never being critical about the NIV or her use of it). I posted the KJV in order to show where my opinion was based on. That is not a violation of the rules.

Whoops... Falsely complained? NO comparison of KJVO and MV is allowed off the one board. Your response to that person compared the two versions line to line and word for word. That is NOT allowed. That is NOT falsehood! Your attack and calling us cowards was very unChristian.

Be careful whom you call a liar, Jailminister.

Diane doesn't even think I'm a real minister - so don't assume that I'm some "cronie" leaping to her defense. Nevertheless, I feel compelled to point out that she consistently speaks very directly, clearly, and honestly on these forums. You made a mistake, she called you on it, and Dr. Bob acted in a way that is consistent with the forum rules.

First off I would like to say that I have the utmost respect for HeadCoveredLady for following her convinctions in regard to the length and covering of her hair.

Personally, though I have not been convicted by God of needing to have either long hair or a head covering. If someday I am, I hope that I will follow through on that conviction as others who have posted here have done.

I will say that I am proud to describe myself as a feminist.

Oh, which definition to choose! Actually, this is the commonly accepted definition, and by that standard I am a feminist. [IMG]

Absolutely. The lesbian feminist movement, for instance, definitely valued women above men, but that kind of power balance is eschewed by most of the major feminist groups today.

    Yup.

Again, Diane and Joshua, I broke NO rule. If you think I did, find it and cut and paste it here to prove I am wrong. If the truth be know the posting of the NIV here is a violation of the rules because it is a copyright. Yet no one jump on her.

JUST PROVE ME WRONG. I CHALLENGE YOU.

Actually JM, you would have to post a rather large, contiguous section of the NIV for it to be a copyright violation. Posting any of it without attribution would also technically be a copyright violation.

Plain and simple, if you were attacking the reliability of a modern translation outside of the forum created for that purpose you were violating the rules as I understand them.

Of course, if I remember correctly, discussing the actions of Moderators is also in violation of the rules - so I'm officially stepping out of this topic.

RJ, As I said I never violated any rule. I have yet to be proven wrong. the Moderator can delete whatever he wants to and that is fine, but it WAS NOT DUE to a violation of the rules.

And yes if you study the copyright laws, quote any OR all of copyright material is a violation unless you state permission from the owner. So when she posted the NIV she broke the law and the rules.

No, I am afraid you are misinformed on this. Copyright has a number of stipulations and any posting on the BB will never meet those stipulations to violate copyright rules. There is a fair use clause, a certain percentage of the original work compared to the copied work, an attribution feature (i.e., the original work was attributed), etc.

If someone copies something from a version of the Bible and attributes it, provided it does not make up more than 25% (I think) of the work. Fair use includes educational, review, critique, etc. A violation would also include the intent to avoid purchasing legal copies and the effect on the potential market.

The reality is that under the current law, everything that is concretely produced is copyrighted whether it is noted or not.

See the following website for info: Law About ... Copyright

I would also encourage you to be a little more gentle in your speech and demeanor towards others. It will go a long ways towards furthering the Christian conversation.
