Right here;

If you did not mean seminary here, then pray tell what type of school were you saying preachers need to attend?

By the way, I am not a preacher.

A school is an institution designed for the teaching of students (or "pupils") under the direction of teachers.

Whether it is a seminary or putting yourself under the instruction of men who've written books and doing what some call "self-education" you are still being "schooled."

Now you change your tune.

No. You're just tone deaf.

As Ronald Reagan said, you can't knock success.

You must see a lot of that down your way.

Yes. We do. And up north in places like Hammond, Indiana, too.

Now, that is a ridiculous statement, because there are highly educated men who are KJO like D.A. Waite.

D. A. Waite is a moron. There is almost unanimous consensus on that among seminary professors.

Not even Bob JONES will have anything to do with the guy.

There might be many reasons seminaries do not teach KJO.

I think the proper word would be "convinced" or "persuaded" that KJO is ridiculous.

Yes, because it is untenable, unsupportable and ridiculous.

Then why do statistics prove that the more education a person has, the more likely they are to be an atheist?

Let me give you another one. Atheists are far less likely to get divorced than are "Christians."

Atheists are usually people who have been put off by "Christian" morons and Christian stupidity.

The rise of Atheism in this country is a good reason our clergy need to be well educated.

The more educated a person is, the more likely they are to be liberal?

I am conservative but I can tell you this. A lot of conservatives are very backwards. People who want to distance themselves from ignorance and ignorant people have hardly anywhere else to go but to liberalism.

Good afternoon Rev...please don't assume that I speak AGAINST this form. Just saying that I recognize it as something that is taught in seminary. And whether or not someone likes that form, I'm just saying I recognize it - I've even used it myself.

I would say this though - I'm not handcuffed to that particular form though. I used to be. I used to keep a death grip on the pulpit too.

I use it regularly because I have not seen anything better. But I am careful who steps into my pulpit.

Hey Rev, last Sunday, I had a main point and only two supporting points. My last prof. would be disappointed in me - but then again, he went charismatic...

Aaah...I do not see that as actually deviating from the format. I may have only two supporting points or 5 or five. But the general format is the same either way.

That is exactly what the Bible teaches!

How much education does it take to preach the gospel ? I am one that is persuaded that one has to be saved and called of God to start with and if one only has the bible and nothing else he can be led and taught by the Holy Spirit unto all truth. I have nothing against education, I believe those minister's that are called of God are studious people, but only the Holy Spirit can teach a person about the deep things of God.

salzer mtn: That is exactly what the Bible teaches!

I am not against education. My mother and father both taught back in the hills of Virginia. I taught a couple years at Virginia Tech. My wife taught in both public and private schools for many years. I have a daughter and grand daughter who teach. I had a brother who taught math in high school for several years and a sister-in-law who taught in high school until she died. I have two nieces who teach in Chattanooga. { Actually one retired last spring.} I have a niece who teaches college in Georgia and a grand nephew who teaches college in Virginia.

That being said "salzer mtn" is correct.

It is a fact that some who supposedly become educated in Scripture depart from the faith, deny Scripture, and some don't know the difference between Holy God and allah. I believe it was Bishop Pike who died in Israel hunting for the historical Jesus. And then there was the brilliant philosopher who argued the following:
The well-known prologue to John’s Gospel may be paraphrased, “In the beginning was Logic, and Logic was with God, and Logic was God.... In logic was life and the life was the light of men.”

The whole argument is a strawman. Because someone does not go to seminary does not mean he will be ignorant like a snake handler.

Your very argument does not show much intelligence, it is a fallacy.
