Munus Triplex Christi

Why have I not heard Baptist preachers speak about the munus triplex Christi? It was discussed and debated in the 1600's. What happened? It seems an interesting topic.

Well, the best answer I'd be able to come up with is...Baptists seem to be divided into two camps, if you will.

One camp seems to be almost exclusively focused on what God has done in eternity

The other camp seems to be almost exclusively focused on what believers are doing

Kind of leaving Christ and his ministry in the ditch.

I don't know of any Christian who denies that Christ is Prophet, Priest, and King.

Go to a better church. But beware, you may become a political conservative sitting too long under the Gospel.

I am more likely to hear it in a liberal church than a conservative. Conservative preachers seldom preach on the teaching of Jesus and much more often on the teaching of Paul. Conservatives in the USA do not like some of the teaching of Jesus and ignore them ... at their risk.

Hmmm - I wonder if it has to do with where you live. Hubby is right now preaching through the Beatitudes and is on week....5, I think? Let me get my notebook. Yep - 5 weeks. Before that, he did a series on a number of Jesus' parables and before that was quite a bit of time in Acts. I don't see a series this year from Paul's letters although he definitely visited them.

I did not mean my answer at a blanket statement of all conservative pastors. However, look at discussions here and see how often Paul is quoted versus Jesus.

Are his sermons available online to listen to?
