Music ministry and church politics- All opinions welcome!

A year ago the church I have been a member of for 20+ years got a new pastor. The pastor is great, however, at the same time the new pastor came the music ministry also changed. The type of music did not change. For lack of a better term the "personnel" changed. Myself and many others feel our calling is to sing in church and that is what we have been doing for years with solos, duets, trios and weekly requests from the congregation. Now we are totally excluded from the service. Our new pastor is great but this has put a damper on the spirit in our church. Instead of a spirit filled song service before the sermon we have an awkward time before the sermon. Now comes the politics part. The musicians and singers that myself and others were replaced with are 5 very young people whose parents and grandparents are members of the church too. I am no longer able to fulfill my calling in my church and am seriously thinking about looking elsewhere. Your opinions are welcome!

Singing in the worship at the assembly of the church should be congregational. God's elect are not there to show off their musical talent, they are to blend to their voices together in the worship of God in singing the praises of His wonderful sovereign, electing grace in providing His Son as a Surety for all those whom God has chosen and the Holy Spirit has regenerated.

I appreciate your comment but it is not applicable doctrinally for me. I have been called to and involved in music ministry inside and outside my home church for 35 years.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: that the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

I'd guess that the pastor has changed things up for a reason.

I've heard it said that the age of the pastor affects the age of the congregation; a young pastor will draw a young crowd.
I'd presume that the age of the people that perform before the congregation have the same effect.

Perhaps it's time to be creative and consider some fresh opportunities where your gifts might be appreciated.
A older friend of mine used to teach a bible class in a nearby nursing home. His faithfulness encouraged him and those he taught (even the ones who slept through it ;-) .
People in nursing homes and care facilities would greatly value your service to them.

Without knowing your new pastor, I'm sure if the group of you organized such an endeavor, it would encourage him greatly!

Thanks for the comment. It seems since I posted this prayers have been answered and people heard by the pastor. There is a list and anyone can put their name down to sing.
