My aunt is dying .... please pray for God to be merciful.

My 75-year old aunt, in relatively great health, suffered a massive brain-stem stroke Monday morning at 8:30.

Tonight, Tuesday, at 11:44, I do not ask for your prayers for healing. I ask for your prayers for God to take her home and for His mercy.

She is totally unresponsive. The doctors have said that there is no hope. No surgeries will do anything. No ventilators will do anything more than the oxygen mask is doing now. She is on no machines. She is merely in a hospital room with an oxygen mask and medications to keep her body from being agitated.

The decision of the feeding tube was given to the family Monday afternoon. It was decided that it would only prolong the way that she is now and that would be inhumane. If it were any other kind of stroke, it might be different.

We still talk to her and hold her hand as if she hears us. But we know that she doesn't.

My mother and I took the last 6-hour shift at the hospital. Her lungs are so filled with fluid that suctioning her out doesn't work well at all and it just comes right back anyway. She doesn't seem to be in much distress, but is slowly dying. Too slow.

Please, please pray that God be merciful and take her quickly. I know that it can't last more than a few more days. The body can't go more than 3-5 days without fluids. But this is hard.

She is a devout Christian who gave her life to her family and to her church family and to her community. No one has given more in the name of Jesus Christ than this woman. Nobody. They are going to lay out the red carpet for her in Heaven and she will humbly refuse to walk it.

Oh wow. I cared for a sweet lady who ended up in this exact same situation with absolutely no warning and thoroughly understand your request.

(((hugs for you)))

Keep talking to her no matter what anyone says.

Dear Heavenly Father, we ask for your mercy and at the same time we are asking for Your will to be done concerning this precious lady who has serious health issues. Comfort and prepare the family to accept Your will. We want to extend our hugs and love to all of you who are involved in this lady's care and love. In the name of Jesus. Amen

I just now saw this, Scarlett. So sorry about your aunt. Even if she was elderly and ready to go, it's still a loss and you will grieve. Praying God will comfort you and your family at this time.:1_grouphug:

I'm so sorry for your loss, Scarlett. Praying for God's peace and comfort for you and your family.

I lost a friend this week to a brain aneurysm. She was also in perfect health, and it was quite a shock.

I am sorry.

I am more convinced than ever that "life is a vapor" as James, the half-brother of Jesus said in the Bible.

Everybody take care of themselves!!

Sister Scarlett, how is your aunt?

nashpd,

She died yesterday (Thursday) and is being buried tomorrow (Saturday). Her body is at the church and many friends, relatives, and community members came out tonight to see her and visit the family. She was well loved by so many people.

A few men from her church will sit up with her body at the church tonight.

Tomorrow, at 2:00 pm, we will have the service and burial.

Scarlett, you and all your family are sincerely in my prayers. This has been a week of deep contemplation for me, as my mom passed away on September 1, 2001, and a very good friend passed on that same date in 2005 at age 42. But neither were as sudden as your aunt's case. I trust God did have mercy on everyone involved in the final days and hours. Blessings and comfort to you all!

Sister Scarlett,

Despite the loss, it is in fact a matter of joy that you know where she is going and that is the best part of it all. I lost my father in February this year, but unfortunately he was closed to the gospel.

He gave us a tough time while he was alive because of his disobedience, but looking back we feel sorry for him for the fact that had he accepted the free gift, he would have had a peaceful departure.

You'll be with her someday. What is this short life when compared to eternity.

God bless you.

So sorry to read that your great aunt had a sudden illness that took her from you and others who loved her dearly. But so grateful to know that she is with the Lord forever!!
May God bring many to cover you with love and care at this difficult time.:1_grouphug::praying:

Dear Heavenly Father, May You grant peace and comfort to Scarlett O and to others who loved this precious lady who will be greatly missed by so many!
May this be a time to enjoy her memory and may they be consoled to know that they have known such a wonderful lady who has helped them in their lives. In Jesus name. Amen
