My hair

Your opinion? Just say it!

  • Fine as it is - looks great, and you can leave it alone

  • Get a light trim

  • Your hair is way too long and less than manly - get it cut real short

It has been a contentious issue in my family. They think - and I'm coming round to the idea - that it's too long for a man, even a 19-year-old like myself. What do you think?

I suggest you go bald, like me. Of course, mine fell out on its own, over time, but it’s much easier to take care of and it keeps you humble.

peace to you

Um...nah, not bald - don't think my family would be happy with that! But short is a real option, and I'd be interested in what fellow Baptists think!

Thanks - but there was the Biblical position also.
Biblically, you must follow your conscience.

Maybe God wants men to have short hair. Maybe He really doesn’t care and is more focused on your love for the cause of Christ in the world.

If God doesn’t care, but you believe God wants you to have short hair, and you keep it long, you are sinning because you are violating your conscience. You are doing something you believe God disapproves of.

Just be convinced in your own mind.

peace to you

Well, this is a point where I become confused - not just on this issue but on others. If I am simply following my conscience and my own judgement, then everything becomes relative. There aren't any absolute truths, but it's merely a matter of our own inner voices...

Luckily, you have scripture to guide you. Study scripture for yourself. Get the opinions of those who study the issue to compare your own views. Pray God Holy Spirit gives you discernment, and decide which position is consistent with scripture.

Take your time and be ready to follow wherever scripture leads you. Be convinced in your own mind and be humble enough to change your mind if more information convinces you otherwise. Never question the salvation of others who disagree, especially on such a non-essential doctrine.

peace to you

What’s your girlfriend think... that’s what matters. Personal preference though, I like short hair. Easy to manage. Then you can grow a beard and play with that. That’s what really separates a guy from the girls.

19 yo is prime age for service... there you won’t have a choice. And it’s a good place to sort out your thoughts and feelings about your life. Especially since we are getting out of Afghan.

Now if you want my opinion about tattoos, body hair and mixed martial art then just ask.

BTW, where do you live?

Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?

Can people vote some more, so I can get some more clarity? I'm willing to be guided by this, as I am by my church and family.

Sam you are brave enough to come on here and ask the opinion of this tough group?... Weather you get your hair cut or not, remember this?... Brother Glen:)

Luke 12:7 But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

Btw... I have a grand nephew, who is ten years old and would put your hair to shame, his hair is so long we told him, we would buy him a dress:eek:... I think a nice trim would help!

Well, my atheist buddies are pretty tough too. I've not led a sheltered life. Reason for haircut is to partly distance myself from their influence. There are more important things, sure, but it's just an outward marker I guess. Barber is very imminent, my mind is not quite made up as to length; and if enough people vote, it may guide me some more, I might even share an after picture!

Now that puts a whole new light on the subject, you want to make yourself more presentable to a different crowd... New man... New look!... I like it:Thumbsup... You also seek counsel of those older than yourself I like that too, it shows respect... Always remember though that man looks on the appearance but only God looks on the heart... You are brave Sam, seek counsel as you so desire and then pray, that God will give you the answer... When you come to the decision you do, show us the new Sam!... Brother Glen:)

Your hair is part of your Christian freedom.
I will only say that the only guy whose hair is specifically mentioned in Scripture as being luxurious is Absalom (2 Samuel 14:26).
