My son

My son recently came in from Colorado and told me he was a deist. He was saved at 7 years old and I baptized him ( Pastor). Is it possible that my son is saved and just badly backslidden? Me & Wife have been praying that God would draw him back to him. He is also a libertarian ( Political Party).

I am so sorry to hear this. I have an unsaved son myself and it is a cause of great anxiety and grief. There are two possibilities:
1. That your son is a sheep who has wandered temporarily from the fold, in which case the Good Shepherd will go and find him in due course and bring him home.
2. Your son was not saved at the time you baptized him.

In either case, your course of action is the same: you need to reassure your son of your unconditional love for him, reason with him as best you can and find out what has caused this apparent change of heart, and most importantly, pray unceasingly to God that he will work in his heart to bring him (back?) to Christ.

I would add that it is my personal opinion that it is unwise to baptize children at a young age. It is very easy for such children to make an apparent confession of faith to please Mom and Dad without really understanding what they are doing. Then they can become Gospel-proof, since when they hear the call to repentance and faith, they think, "This doesn't apply to me since I'm already a Christian."

Probably a false convert. Pray for him and continue to witness to him.

One of my sons (Number 7 of 11 children) was saved and baptized at 10 years old in a lake in Maine.
When he got into his teens he became a hellion. I won't go into his sins except for drug involvement.
One time I had to bail him out of jail. My wife and I had just about given up hope. We had to put him out of the house with an uncle who lived in a trailer to avoid becoming involved in his crimes (he had drugs hidden in our house which could of made us guilty of possession) Then one day out of the blue he came to his senses.

To make a long struggle story short, he went back to church, started up in college, met his beautiful wife, graduated, became the youth director in our church and later a counselor in his present church.
He now owns his own multi-million dollar produce business,
has three beautiful children who go to a Christian school.

Keep PRAYING. It works.
Thank You Lord.
