What's my age? Older than you! (or younger depending on the person)

How much do you make? Now why would you ask ME that question. Stay at home mothers don't get a gov't subsidy so I'm guessing my income depends on my husband.

Oh! How much does he make? Less than he did last year. This economy's been tough on everyone. (and yes, language cop I know that "economy's" is not proper English, but ask an ignorant question and get an ignorant answer)

How much do I weigh? Man oh man. I got asked this question when I was 114 and I get asked this question now at 165. I am 5' 10". The "extra" 50 pounds I've gained in the last 20 years are character pounds. They mean I am now "average" instead of being skinney. So how much do I weigh? More than I used too, of course.

How much is my house payment? Less than 25% of my income.

Oh Marcia, I can't immagine how hard it would be as a missionary on support. It's hard enough living in a parsonage, trying to conserve electricity and water so the church can pay less utility bills. It must be very humbling to know everybody and their brother has a say in your finances. You must have a lot of grace to deal with that!

 

It's quite an experience in faith, I'll say that. I don't think I have that grace, but I'm learning to get it! It does get you to go through things that are good for you that you otherwise would not choose! :laugh:

 

Being a missionary on support has some major cons. LOL!

 

If anyone were to ask my grandmother how old she was, she would reply "As old as my tongue, and a little older than my teeth".

 

It depends. If it's a stranger, I would probably ask why they wanted to know.

I don't mind sharing what I pay for rent. $662 a month.

Prescriptions--that's easy; I don't take any.

I am already a father, and my wife is pregnant, so I don't have to worry about someone asking when I am going to have kids.

I don't have a financial adviser. I do the research myself.

I am already married.

Now, if it's really personal, I might tell them to MYOB. But for close friends, I'll probably share most things.

It depends. If I'm talking to somebody who has a similar medical issue and we're comparing notes, then I don't have a problem telling him what medication has helped me.

As for the "when are you going to have kids" question, with six of them, I think the question is, "when are you going to stop having kids".

 

Oh! My least favorite is, "You do know they have a pill for that now, don't you?" when people see all my kids. Or, "You do know how that happens, right?" Those are definitely MYOB moments, if I'm in a kind mood.

 

If someone asks a question that I don't care to answer, I just say "It's none of your business."

 

My age used to be a mystery to some people. When I was growing up until about my mid to late 20's. I think most of it was how I carried myself & how I acted in front of others. I was transferred to work as a security director in Hilton Head, SC at a mall. When the regional manager was telling the mall manager about me, he mentioned (at that time) that I was 23 years old. The mall manager quickly said that she didn't want a party animal running her security. He had to reassure her that I was very mature for my age.

I have often said that I feel like I am old man trapped in a young man's body. I don't care much for today's music (I like music from the late 60's to the early 90's). I don't really care for much for major technological advances either. I also consider myself to be stubborn in my thinking at times like some of the older people I know. Also recently, I have been forgetting little things, like whether or not I spoke with someone earlier that morning (sometimes). I can deal with all of that stuff. I just don't want any of the physical limitations associated with "old age".

Keeping with the topic at hand, I don't like giving out my personal info, like my zip code, phone number, or anything else about me. I just tell the cashier that I wish not to give out that information.

 

Based on the picture you had as your avatar I would have guessed you were in your in mid 30's. You had me fooled.
