These are just a few of the results that have been recorded in a new paper produced by the Costs of War project at Brown University’s Watson Institute. “War Related Death, Injury, and Displacement in Afghanistan and Pakistan 2001-2014,” by Boston University Political Science Professor and co-director of the Costs of War project, Neta C. Crawford, documents 149,000 direct war deaths among Afghanis and Pakistanis, including civilians, national police and security forces, and opposition forces, such as the Taliban. The report further notes that local and international organizations have recorded an additional 162,000 people who have been seriously injured in the fighting, adding that war violence, the resulting displacement of individuals from their homes, and destruction of the environment and public services have also contributed to an untold number of indirect deaths from malnutrition, disease, and lack of access to care.

Historically speaking, a <1% loss of population in over a decade of war is low. Factor in the lack of targeting particular ethnicities, and using the word genocide wanders into hyperbole.

Casualties is anyone hurt, not people who died. Second, the report is not just US action, but all action of hostility. This means the Islamic warlords who have terrorized the nation's have been attacking civilians and blowing up public markets in order to scare the people. That is what totalitarian regimes do when they want to keep control. They murder their own people who oppose them. Look at China in Hong Kong. Look at Afghanistan and Pakistan. They all have totalitarian groups/governments bent on controlling people by force and death.
So, those casualty numbers include the totalitarian Islamic groups who butcher their own. What a bunch of lovely people.
Who started both these wars? If we hadn't started them how many deaths would there have been?

There would have been thousands of deaths by the totalitarian Islamic regimes who couldn't care less about human life, liberty or the pursuit of happiness.
Had Afghanistan not harbored a terrorist who attacked the US, there would not have been any US response. Had Iraq not invaded Kuwait and then instigated a response from Bush Jr, the US would not be involved.
Most of the civilian casualties are from evil groups in those countries killing and maiming their own. US troops do not target citizens. Your ignorance of our troop involvement is noted.
I am patriotic and I am a war hawk. Having said that, Bush and Bush involved us in stupid wars that we should have never been involved in. Saddam was our Ally. The only reason we cared when he invaded Kuwait is the Saudis started crying. The only reason Iran is a problem now is we removed their natural enemy.
You really think we want to exterminate those people in same way Hitler did the Jews??

Do you actually know the meaning of the word "imperialistic"?
imperialistic = "relating to or characterized by a policy of imperialism."
imperialism = "a policy or ideology of extending a country's rule over foreign nations, often by military force or by gaining political and economic control of other areas."
So how has the US extended its "rule" over Iran or Iraq or Syria or Turkey or Afghanistan ... or any other country?
US Imperialism ended around the time of Hawaii statehood. As a nation seeking to build an Empire, we have done a terrible job since WW2.
