Nation of Christians no more???

On Thursday, a Hindu chaplain from Reno, Nevada, by the name of Rajan Zed is scheduled to deliver the opening prayer in the U.S. Senate. Zed tells the Las Vegas Sun that in his prayer he will likely include references to ancient Hindu scriptures, including Rig Veda, Upanishards, and Bhagavard-Gita.

Read it and weep .. vote the bums out.

And shame on anyone who voted the bums in -- those are very "special bums" having done what no other sentate in all of U.S history would stoop to doing.

Voting the politicos out will actually do nothing, because of the First Amendment. If they were to limit the opening prayer for the Senate proceedings to a Christian they would be guilty of establishment. As long as they allow prayers in the official proceedings they will have to have it open to all religions. It is for this reason, I have been in favor of removing prayer from official governmental functions including school. I don't want to listen to a heathen pray to their idol.

Guilty of establishment? Where is that in the Constitution?

Congress shall make no law.

When did Congress make a law establishing Christianity? Establishing Christians only to pray? Christians have prayed before Congress since nationhood. This is a grievous, rank, gross, blasphemous departure from that tradition, the latter birthed by those of us who proclaim and have proclaimed one nation under God since nationhood -- not under gods, of which Hindus have millions who are nothing less than demonic. There is no rule, requirement, act of Congress, that Congress open up sessions with a nod to "allow prayers" by any group. Call your Christian Senator. Tell him / her to be late on Thursday. Tell him/her to renounce the prayer before proceeding. In fact, tell him/her not to attend the session(s) that day.

One aspect of this is the mockery made of prayer even when Christians are leading it. Look at the daily opening of Congress on C-Span and you will see that scarcely is anyone present when the chaplain or guest delivers prayer, and that those who are present are milling about, talking with one another, reading papers, etc. I think this is just one of those ceremonial customs that has no significance except to suggest to everyone present that religion is form and not substance.

By the way, I do not have to depend entirely on C-Span for this observation. Some years ago I was invited to lead prayer before the House one morning, and what I described above was what I experienced personally. First, when I was ushered to the well of the House, I was told, "Not too long, Reverend". And then the instant I said "Amen" the speaker pro tem charged into the orders of the day, which had obviously been on his mind.

The House of Representatives and/or the Senate is not a congregation of faithful people waiting to express their longings to the Lord.

And we ought to be ashamed for even considering a muslim for president!

Interesting questions for the Muslim Community to discuss & for research on our part also.

Can a good Muslim be a good American? I forwarded that question to a friend who worked in Saudi Arabia for 20 years . The following is his forwarded reply:

Theologically - no. Because his allegiance is to Allah, the moon
God of Arabia.

Religiously - no. Because no other religion is accepted by his Allah except Islam (Quran, 2:256)

Scripturally - no. Because his allegiance is to the five pillars of Islam and the Quran (Koran).

Geographically - no. Because his allegiance is to Mecca, to which he turns in prayer five times a day.

Socially - no. Because his allegiance to Islam forbids him to make friends with Christians or Jews.

Politically - no. Because he must submit to the mullah (spiritual leaders), who teach annihilation of Israel and Destruction of America, the great Satan.

Domestically - no. Because he is instructed to marry four women and beat and scourge his wife when she disobeys him Quran 4:34 ).

Intellectually - no. Because he cannot accept the American Constitution since it is based on Biblical principles and he believes the Bible to be corrupt.

Philosophically - no. Because Islam, Muhammad, and the Quran do not allow freedom of religion and expression. Democracy and Islam cannot co-exist. Every Muslim government is either dictatorial or autocratic.

Spiritually - no. Because when we declare "one nation under God," the Christians God is loving and kind, while Allah is NEVER referred to as heavenly father, nor is he ever called love in The Qurans 99 excellent names.

Therefore after much study and deliberation.... Perhaps we should be very suspicious of ALL MUSLIMS in this country. They obviously cannot be both "good" Muslims and good Americans.

Call it what you wish..its still the truth. You had better believe it!

The more who understand this, the better it will be for our country and our future.

The religious war is bigger than we know or understand.

And Barack Hussein Obama, a Muslim, wants to be our president!!!

But before we turn every Muslim into a closet terrorist, we should remember that like we see in Christianity, there are differing degrees of committal, with some outright nominal, and others only culturally Muslim, or taking various bits and pieces of it, or watering it down, and omitting the "radical" stuff. We would not expect a liberal mainline Christian to fight for the Gospel in Muslim lands, so let us not unfairly prejudge all Muslims like that.

Blessed, if you are going to post something negative about somebody you might want to check your facts. Barack Obama is not muslim http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/muslim.asp

He is a member of a liberal UCC congregation.

I am probably in the minority as far as conservative Christians go, but I hold no delusions that America is or ever was a Christian nation. It is a nation that has been heavily influenced by Christianity as evidenced by the speeches and written documents of its leaders, but it is not a Christian nation.

There is only one Christian nation and there will only be one Christian nation and that is Israel, the church, the kingdom of grace ruled not by law but by the grace of God in Christ Jesus. Governments of physical nations will never be a christian nation because they rule through the law.

Thanks for the link. I had read that before I posted. If you read the whole story, you will find many contradictions in what he says and what he did.

He has not admitted that he is a Muslim. OTOH, he has not admitted that he was NOT a Muslim.

What politician do YOU know who would admit he was a Muslim when running for office???

Good points, though I heard often he is a nominal churchman.

There are many political Christians today! and Catholic Christians too! plus gay Christians !

The muslims will be the next, if they haven't already. They already offered prayers to allah standing in the National Cathedral right after 09/11, right alongside Billy Graham.

I know, but that's not the point.
Let's look at it this way. Crusaders DID want to convert or kill the Muslims, but WE don't. Do you like being accused of wanting to kill Muslims because others who called themselves Christians did? Obviously, there are completely different schools of though under the name of the religions. It is never good to lump people into stereotypes like that. That was the basis of prejudice.

There is a big difference between a Christian nation and a nation of Christians, re my OP.

I understand some Christians took exception in the Senate today, before the Hindu spoke to his 40,000,000 demons. Good. I won't vote for any who bowed their head when he actually prayed, that's for sure.

Actually, to be historically correct, Muslims started the Crusades by invading Christian lands and trying to conquer them. The Crusaders fought back. Besides, the Crusades is off topic, but nice red herring try.
