The National Museum of African American History and Culture is to have its grand opening on September 24th, 2016. Are any of you planning on going to the museum the next time you are in D.C.?

Looks interesting, and easy to get to as a member of the Smithsonian. I need to take a family vacation to DC soon. The last time we went, the kids were little so we just ran through the Natural History museum. I haven't even made it to the WWII monument.

I took my two young grandkids on a tour of Washington about 2 weeks ago.
Amtrak from Trenton to Washington and back: the little one slept most of the way.
95 degrees in the shade! 65 degrees in the museums - burrrr!

They're still working on it but it looks interesting!
It's a regularly shaped building with winged additions of metal sculpture angling outwards.
Before I knew what it was I thought it was a new way to protect people inside from IEDs.
