I clarified my position quite well thanks. But I appreciate your attempts of claiming that I don't live according to your high-level Baptist standards.

Do you worship these men? If not, why should I be concerned with how they think? Furthermore, why are you concerned? Are these men better that other people in the world? Should God only bestow blessings on these men and exclude everyone else? What makes you think that?

This is a common tactic. Ask for scripture, get scripture, claim you have a higher understanding of said scripture. The Bible talks about people who lack the Spirit of Truth in the acceptance of the Word.

    Citizen,
You seem to have a hard time knowing the difference between worship and patriotism. Have you ever served this country? One day? My guess is no.

I was one of these men for seventeen years.........you just told me everything about your character. No, they are not better.......but they obviously have something you don't.

Actually, I think I might be one of the few in this thread that DOES know there is a difference between the two. Worshippers of soldiers, military, war, prior service, government. What does any of that have to do with the Kingdom of God? Patriotism isn't Godliness. You cannot serve two masters.

Good for you. I have know many people to do a job for that long, why are you holding the military up over the trash truck driver?

    Are veterans worthy of worship?

Did I say they were worthy of worship? Why are you so uncomfortable?

Edited: I'm asking you not to put words into my mouth........you haven't a clue as to what I'm talking about.......just as I suspected.

Why are you holding up the military then?

I'm sitting here in a big blue-green recliner with my slippers on, eating leftover pizza and listening to the Gateway Evangelism Choir. I'm very comfortable thank you. Why would you try to claim I'm not? Are you looking in my windows?

Who is this post directed at? If me (and I assume it is since I dare to voice an unpopular opinion) then I humbly request you retract such an inflammatory accusation.

 Well, "inflammatory" is how some of us are viewing your remarks and accusations, especially when it comes to the veterans.

You've been outfoxed by the feisty feathered one, Citizen. For some reason, I just KNEW you would sign back on after the trolled again comment.

Now, can we carry on the debate on the topic without further inflammatory remarks please? :flower:

Well first I would like for you to back up your allegations against me. I have an opinion, I have stated it respectfully and have defended it when asked.

Just because I disagree with you on most topics is no reason for you to take this to a personal level. I have not insulted you (except calling one of your responses naive) and I have not insulted "the troops."

I think an explanation is in order.

As far as my "signing back on," I check this forum and a host of others throughout the day, so I fail to see why you're trying to pull a Kreskin.

Know what? Nevermind Lady Eagle. You don't have to prove a thing. You've targetted me ever since I began posting at BaptistBoard. I know my opinion isn't mainstream but I don't think that gives you any right to act as if I must fit inside of your box of proper Baptists.

You have not tried to edify me with your comments, only antagonize. You seemingly left this thread only to re-enter in order to throw your "troll bomb."

You cannot find one single post where I have made inflammatory comments regarding "the troops" and I resent the implication.

But I will not stay on just so you can continue to belittle me. You have already stated that you wish I would leave the country (was that trolling? hmmm) so it's natural to assume you wish I didn't post here. So be it. May God bless you and enlighten you. :flower:

You have accused some of the people on this thread (which includes me, BTW) of being "Worshippers of soldiers, military, war, prior service, government." Which is a false accusation.

But, may God bless you and enlighten you, as well. :flower:

    Here, I'll help Lady Eagle.

    http://www.baptistboard.com/showpost.php?p=940601&postcount=66

Which poster did I accuse? None. Zero. I made a statement without indicting anyone.

If you want to ban me, just go ahead and do it. But at least be honest about WHY you want to. It has nothing to do with breaking the rules (we both know you were trying to build a case with the little troll quip) it has only to do with a differing opinion.

So get it out of your system. I will STILL forgive you.

I believe I said if you hate the USA so much, move to a nation that is better than this one. You pick it & I'd chip in to buy your one-way ticket there.

Well, is there a better country than this one? Do you feel guilty because you live in the USA or because God has blessed America? I don't feel guilty about it. I feel grateful. I praise God that He let me be born here to the parents I was born to from the ancestors I was born from in this wonderful nation at this time in the history of the planet. I am thankful for all of those in our military who have so bravely fought for freedom.

To be thankful for America and God's blessings on this country is not the same as worshipping this country. And it is not to say I even agree with or condone everything that is done in the name of the United States, because I don't. But it is still the best place in the world to live and people all over the world, even millions of those who say they hate us, would give their right arm just to have the chance to come here and live and enjoy even a bit of the freedom we still have left here....and they keep on coming...and coming...and coming....

Oh....my....goodness. There is no need for so much drama! :flower:

Have your opinion. Cherish your opinion. Now can we have a truce & get back on topic? After all, you live in Tennessee, too......

Look, son, you only gave one Scripture, which you gave from a definition that disagreed with yours, and it did not mention idolatry. Don't accuse me of shady tactics.

I have not insulted you, I have not attacked you, I have not criticized your use of Scripture. Folk on the BB who know me will confirm that I'd be happy to discuss in a mutually respectful manner any Scripture you can come up with on idolatry. But you haven't come up with any yet.
