In the past military bases had separate NCO (PO) and Officers clubs. (and in some instances - separate lower Enlisted -E-1-4 clubs .)
Nowadays many bases are going to an all-ranks clubs.
Good, bad, indifferent?

Bad.

But they don't see near the number of customers as they used to, so I reckon it doesn't much matter.

Back in the Day - most EM did not have POV's thus relied more on the EM club.

and I agree - BAD ideal. Within the military - there is a separation of ranks (rates) and to some extent that should include off duty.

Bad idea. May lead to fraternization which would result in a breakdown in good order and discipline.

Gentlemen, it's been happening for over 10 years. Vance AFB in Oklahoma instituted one in 2002; and I believe McConnell in Wichita instituted theirs around 1998, during the base's reconstruction after an F5 tornado.

The E club on Bragg always looks empty. Has for the last 19 years that I've been here.

The old NCO and O clubs were well used. Then they tore down the NCO club and built a huge conference center. When they did that, the O club became the Ft Bragg club.
