ID required to buy whipped cream, but no ID required to vote in an election. Makes sense to me, really.

Actually, it amounts to "the state wants to regulate"
That's what governments do - everything from behavior (criminal law), to methods of interacting and conducting business (family law and business law), to safety regulations (traffic, building codes, food safety, drug abuse prevention, etc.).

All of this comes under promotion of the "general welfare" of the population as one of the purposes of the U.S. Constitutional system.

So what is going to be next!
Whatever needs to be next.

Where is it going to end?
When it is no longer necessary.

I agree that we need some -ie traffic regulations - but every time you turn around they are passing something that is just plain common sense.

But who determines it needs to be a law?

When it is no longer necessary.
The question is when will this end - I am referring to passing unnecessary laws.

Next thing you know they will be passing laws against firearms
Who knows they may pass a law that a pistol magizine can not have more than 5 rounds,
they may pass a law that you cannot cc in a church bldg, they may pass a law that you must have a trigger lock on your firearm
Hmmm will they pass a law that says a criminal must give you 10 seconds to undo the trigger lock, before he is allowed to shoot you.

Common sense isn't as common as we would like to think it is. A glance at the meme threads on this site demonstrates that many in our company are disconnected from reality and consequences.

But who determines it needs to be a law?
Our elected representatives and the voters.

Apparently, many people find that law necessary to prevent teens and children from harming themselves. How has this law negatively affected you?

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!
Those lists of dumb and weird laws are examples of essentially dead laws still on the books, but are not enforced, with many of them being unenforceable. That's actually quite common. Don't mistake entertainment (lists of dumb laws) with laws that are enforced.

Nothing new here. In some places (some Indian reservations for instance) restrictions on spray paint are in place on account of kids huffing paint.

I don't understand your point.

How did this law harm you, because it sounds like it didn't?

Are you just trying to stir up resentment against Constitutional government authority or is there a higher purpose?

It seems all I hear from persons on the hard right side of the spectrum is grievance, not anything constructive.

When I was a teen, I couldn't buy airplane glue or spray paints after around 1980. It was a real pain since I built a lot of gliders and model rockets.

At the same time, I knew that a lot of my peers were huffing that stuff when they didn't have money to buy the harder drugs.

My friends and I could always buy that stuff.

My friends are probably why you couldn't  .
