Need some ideas...

Our church is hosting our annual Youth Conference this summer. The couple that normally handles all of the decorations is not going to be able to do it this year. I am trying to get some ideas on how to decorate the auditorium.

Our theme is "But Continue Thou" taken from II Timothy 3:14, "But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them."

This isn't really a theme that naturally lends itself to obvious decorations. So, any helpful suggestions are most welcome.

Well, the next verse speaks of knowing the Scriptures from childhood so maybe make kind of a progression of knowledge of Christ from the "Jesus Loves Me, This I Know" kind of thing and children's Bible stories to a more mature faith leading to more serious Scripture study, theology, etc.? Gosh - I'm not sure!! That IS a tough thing!! Fortunately our youth week verse was "Let your light so shine..." so they set the stage really cool with rustic wood and the words "Let Your Light Shine" and they hung various Edison lights from the ceiling. It looks really neat!

How about cutouts or posters of the differing stages of physical growth (as part of the theme, not just that)? Beginning with the babe, then the toddler, then the young man, then the father (older wiser Christian...would need a white beard, lol). I'm picturing these images placed in order to wherever the focal point of the conference will be (for example, a stage, or podium). In my mind I see the cutouts beginning with the babe furthest from the focal area, with the progressive stages gradually closer, which places the speaker or highlighted guest at the "culmination point."

Just a thought. Agree completely, that's tough.

God bless.

Thank you both for your suggestions. This gives me something with which to work. I appreciate your input.

Well Dr. Bob I have never been faced with your situation but I feel that in our steps to Christ many of those youths in the church have been influenced by older members like yourself... I feel you need to show other youths that are coming to this conference various picture if possible of those saints of God... The mentors of the church... I fondly remember to this day those fathers and mothers of Israel that took me under their wing in learning more about Jesus Christ and those memories although I'm seventy and they are long gone flood my soul to this day... The youths who are mentored will one day mentor those that follow... Those are my thoughts... Brother Glen
