Let me put it this way, I like dim mood lighting throughout the house. My wattage goes from 15 watts to 60 watts, not including the florescent bulbs in the kitchen or the nightlights that can be found in every room.

Missed Gib's question..."Do you rely heavily on a microwave?" I always cook my vegetables in the microwave. And I defrost meat in it. Other than that, I use a conventional oven.

Do you answer your phone without reservation? Or do you screen with a machine or caller I.D.?

I screen with caller ID. I also have caller ID on my computer and if someone is not willing to leave a number the call does not come through. That eliminates most telemarketers.

Have you ever hired a private detective?

No - I have never felt the need to hire one.

Do you ever watch the O'Reilly Factor? If you do what do you think of the program?

I turn over to Bill when there's nothing else to watch and I'm ready to nap. Just kidding. He's very opinionated. Either you like him or you don't. I watch the show.

    DVD or VHS?

VHS all the way until it becomes obsolete and one can no longer buy videos!

Do you have a CD burner?

Oh! But DVDs have all the cool stuff on them! [IMG]

On my computer, yes. I remember back at the beginning of the wave, they had this separate machine that did it, but I don't know anyone who bought one. Wait, that's not true - a DJ friend of mine did buy one. I don't burn entire CDs, but I am the mistress of the "mix CD." I was never good at making mix tapes, but I do make CDs, and those are pretty good.

Q: Anyone still have vinyl records?

Yeppers! I have about 50 of the 33 1/3 LP vinyl albums and a couple of 45s. I have sold most of them on ebay though.

Do you have any game systems?

    Yay for vinyl! [IMG]

Other than my computer, I have an original Nintendo and an original Nintendo Game Boy. I only have a handful of games for each, though.

Q: When you write (if you write), do you prefer typing or longhand?

I prefer typing, but I journal in long hand. The difference is that I can type way faster than I can write longhand, and I don't get a cramp in my hand either. ;)

Why do children like playing with the box something comes in rather than the nice gift inside?

I am not sure, but I have used boxes to make many
things for children. Round oatmeal boxes make
cute cradles; boxes inside boxes make little
houses and furniture; large boxes make play
houses; boxes taped together with packaging tape
make great tunnels. These can be either temporary
or quote long-term, depending on how they are
handled and decorated. I get as much joy watching
the children play with these as they get playing, I
    thnk!

Have you ever visited as home which was totally
different on the outsde than the inside -- enough
    that you were completely shocked?

Yes. One night on ladies visitation we went to a house that looked totally run down, needed painting, had a step missing etc. When we got inside, it was BEAUTIFUL! They said if they fixed up the outside, it would raise their taxes. I have also been in a house that looked like Home & Garden on the outside and when I got inside you couldn't find a place to walk, let alone sit.

Do you like to fall asleep with the sound of rain hitting the roof?

Yes. But it has to be raining pretty hard to hear it from inside my house.

Is there anything that you are afraid of? What?

Traveling and locked doors. But I faced both of them last week and thanks to the prayers of the women on this board and God's goodness, I got the VICTORY!!!

Do you have a nice set of silverware that you keep in one of those velvet cases?

No, but my parents do. I have a nice set of Henckels stainless, though. I love love love it! It's the "Manor" style, which is modern without being too contemporary.

Q: Do you stay loyal to one set of cookware(me, I'm partial to Berndees)?

My wife uses Ultrex and Ultrex II.

Ultrex is guarenteed for 55 years - Ultrex II for 75 years. It was a new Ultrex II set that was on the stove when the soot fire took place - its not guarenteed against misuse and I suspect that a fire would be considered misuse. So the insurance paid for a new set.

We also have an Ultrex convection oven - pressure cooker - blender and deep fryer - as well as three to four different set and several single pieces of Ultrex.

To answer stubbornkelly's question - after I bought her a new set of cookware (another brand) she saw this Ultrex stuff and wished I hadn't bought the other stuff. She now has lots of Ultrex - probably wants more - and will give the kids most of the other brand - if they want it.

Is there anyone else out there that gets crazy over cookware and gadgets like we do?

PS: I also watch HSN with Jan and often have been the one to say - "Let's get that one!!"

Haha, no. Give me a skillet, a saucepan, and a cookie sheet and I'll live. Spatula's are nice but not necessary. [IMG]
That said, people love my cooking! Guess I'm just too much for the "simple" things, all the fancy stuff just confuses me. Then again, spatula's aren't too fancy, huh? I'm STILL trying to figure out what a spring-form pan is! I've made cheesecakes without them and they're just great, so HMMM.

What's your favorite flavor cheesecake? :D

Whatever the regular flavor is, that's the one I like. Our office always buy 2 cheesecakes from the Honey Baked store. Chocolate, strawberry, plain, coffee (yuck) and peanut butter flavors. Yum, Yum.

Do you bake cakes from scratch or buy the ready made mixes?

Both, but usually boxed lately. Cheesecakes I'll make. I like the chocolate mint ones at one particular store though. [IMG] Homemade chocolate cake made with mayo is yummy!

Do you prefer pie, cake, or potato chips?

Pudding. Most Jell-o isn't kosher -- made from
pigs. But I make my own pudding, since I am
dieting, from cocoa, nonfat dry milk, corn starch,
and sweetener. Mm-m-m-m! Think I'l make some
    tomorrow.

What color scheme is in your kitchen?
