New Bible for Grandaughters

I will soon be buying new Bibles for my two Grandaughters . One is 13 and one is 10.

Not sure whether to get them NKJVs for accuracy or NLTs for ease of reading.

What would you suggest?

I don't have much experience with the NLT, but considering your audience that would be the version I would choose from the choices provided.

Of course, we all have our own opinions (and personal preferences) but I would choose to get them both the NIV.

My wife and daughter were online looking at Christianbook.com and found the NIV Bible for Teen Girls and after looking at it they think it will fit the girls needs.

Thanks everyone for your opinions and input I really appreciate it.

Curious that the creator of this chart included nearly 30 Bible versions (some of which the average Christian not interested in Bible debates has never heard of) but did not bother to include the KJV.
maybe not a KJVO, eh?

If someone is considering the NLT for a child, prisoner, remedial learner, or new English learner, I think it is also worth looking at the NIrV New International READERS Version in large print. As a phonics tutor, I will not bore you with the details of why.

I have successfully used the above books as the primary reading book for some students with very low-level reading levels. Choosing scripture is not the same as choosing a reading textbook, so I can not advise beyond secular considerations of reading levels. I was using them as textbooks.
