New Book on the Doctrine of Scripture

I appreciate you comments on other topics, and I wouldn't wish to fall out with you over this subject. Let's agree to disagree. :)
No, and I sure never wanted you to feel gangstalked, even though I knew you felt strongly about what I've kept on harping about.

Our church has used the KJV since 1782, so we're pretty used to it and believe it's Okay to bring Him in on it and not assume we're automatically heading elsewhere, if by default we find something else to try.

ARE YOU THE FIRST ONE ON THE BOARD ENCOURAGING US TO LEAN MORE TOWARD FOCUSING ON WHAT WE AGREE ON?

Wow

Peace and Love, Martin. Good Show!

Hardcore legalism just because my simple request?? Wow. Do you often attack people like that?

That is not what you wrote. You did not write a prayer beginning with "Oh, my God." Go back and look at your own Post #92.
Tell you what, everyone, let's just call them the "10 Suggestions." So, "If you don't mind, I suggest that you don't take the Lord's name in vain, unless that is inconvenient."

There, now I'm not a wild legalist, right? :oops:

Some people get carried away with their rules they make in the name of religion, like these folks who include 'the Virgin Mary and all the saints', in the Second Commandment;
"CCC 2146 The second commandment forbids the abuse of God's name, i.e., every improper use of the names of God, Jesus Christ, but also of the Virgin Mary and all the saints."

Oh, my God, finally someone takes up for God's Holy Bible
The phrase I suggested expresses, "on the behalf of the honor of God," and implies a formal or theological action of representation.
As that definition is presented in 1. & 2., below;

I deplore you, In Heaven's Name, "for God's Sake", can't be considered sinful or blasphemous, considering Bible passages like Isaiah 43:25 and Matthew 10:22
where you can't even Pray, "Oh my God, help us."
Yeah, I put that invocation in there, because I didn't figure you'd allow yourself to hear that being said as a Prayer

Hardcore legalism just because my simple request?? Wow. Do you often attack people like that?

Looks like you're saying that someone who doesn't fully approve of the language used in the King James Bible should be called 'linguistically ignorant'. Wow.

You seem rather confused with the commandments. The second of the Ten Commandments says:

““You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me,” (Ex 20:4-5 NKJV)

That is the commandment which people say (rightly, in my view) includes making images of Mary or "saints."

It is the third commandment that talks about taking God's name in vain:

““You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.” (Ex 20:7 NKJV)

I have not heard anybody suggest that that one includes Mary and the saints.

Personally, I do not wish there ever to be the slightest hint that I am taking the Lord's name in vain. He's the omnipotent, omnipresent, omniscient, holy God of the universe. He deserves the absolute, utmost respect and honor, not casual and disrespectful comments.
