Announced today that results of lastest testing is the Shroud is to be dated to area of 200 BC to 200 AD, not to 14th century as previously!

Could this thing really be his clothing, and evidencing the resurrection?

IMHO, this is just one more "thing" for the gullible to latch onto as miraculous because of it's "origin"!
Besides, how did this ONE piece of linen (?) survive all these centuries without decay?
Divine intervention? Perhaps, but I really question God keeping something like this that will, in all probability, become just another instance of a "weeping statue"!
Color me skeptical!!!!

That one word is.....NO! God know mans propensity to try and venerate inanimate objects. Besides...it doesn't even match the Biblical description of the way Christ was adorned when He was laid in the tomb (John 19:38-42 & John 20:5-8). The ONLY thing that might be true about this piece of cloth is that it is old...but even the dating methods are not particularly trustworthy. Our faith musy ONLY be in Christ Himself and His perfect Word! Leave this "shroud" to the idolators.

Whether it is or isn't, I don't know. Last time I read, indepth, about it, there are things about it that cannot be explained. It is said that the image is like a photograph negative. Yet, from the time it was first displayed, concepts of photography didn't exist. Lot's of theories, but no facts.

Textiles have survived for many centuries without decay. That isn't unusual, as they've been found in many parts of the world. High in the Andies, in the US southwest, and especially in the the middle east. The Ice Man, discovered frozen in the Alps, is another example.

Divine intervention? If God did preserve this piece of fabric, it would be for His own purposes. Perhaps to be revealed later. Perhaps not. Therefore I don't question God's keeping something like this, if that is indeed the case. Why did God keep the Dead Sea Scrolls? Why did God let the bodies of the Egyptian Pharoah's remain? Has He allowed Noah's ark to remain on a mountain peak? Some say yes, others say no.

Personally, for things like the Shroud, it's a wait and see. Whether in this lifetime or the next, eventually the truth will be known. If it is the burial cloth of Jesus, it's an object of respect, not worship. Similar to my Mother's Bible. I keep it in rememberance of her. Think I'd feel the same way, if God reveals (through whatever means) that there's no doubt, that fabric covered His body. Those threads would not be objects of worship, far from it. They'd be a reminder much as the cracker and grape juice was last night.

If it is not His burial cloth, then it is just another relic from the past that has survived to this date. Just as the Ice Man's clothing survived. A curosity and nothing more. Unless God reveals otherwise.

Most of the time, say this stuff is bogus, but what strikes me is the only plausible explanation that science can find for the way image was "burnt" on the shroud was due to some kind of radiation energy surge, would the resurrection 'burst' thaton a cloth?

I never believed it to be the burial cloth of Christ. It seems to me, if it is genuine, to be a shroud that was used to cover a Christian who was martyred in the manner of his Lord.
