I am surprised with all of the anger running around about The Passion that there is very little being mentioned about the New Fad started in America by the Dan Brown book "The da Vinci Code".
For those of you who have not read it, he writes a novel based on a book that is called "non-fiction" (Yeah, so is the Burmuda Triangle)--That is based on a theory that the Knights Templar found the "Holy Grail" while living in Jerusalem and digging into the old temple. The grail was not what they thought it was and supposedly they black-mailed the Catholic church and the Knights became very rich and owned a lot of land.
Anyway, for the short version, the Grail was the remains of Mary Magdeline, who was Jesus' wife after he "fainted" on the cross and that his children and blood-line is alive and well in France.
The older book that was non-fiction is called "Holy Blood, Holy Grail". Now their book is on the best sellers list along with another book by Dan Brown relating to something about religion, related to this. (I think). So, now we have his da Vinci Code sitting at #2 where it has been for weeks now, Holy-Blood, Holy-Grail, as number 7 and climbing and Dan Browns older book Angels and Demons at about number 10 and climbing.
The bookstore, a major chain, had an entire front isle devoted to the Knights Templar and Holy Grail/Mary Magdeline story that everybody is jumping on the bandwagon, including many books of da Vinci's works that were used in the book.
Now, folks, if you want something to complain about, take a look at this fad and how it is keeping Americans enthralled with absolute rubbish.
The claim is that the blood-line from Jesus is especially pure and goes all the way to David on both Mary and Joseph's side (His assumption that Joseph is the blood father, not the Holy Spirit).
