I have long thought that football ought to be called American Rugby or Handball or Run-With-the-Ball-Until-Someone-Tacles-Me Ball.

"Soccer" is true football.

Gentlemen,
We NEED Deflate-gate!!

Poor Brady....having to sit out 4 games w/out pay!

This may wind up w/ him having to loose close to $2 million this coming season. I'm thinking that we need to pass the hat (helmet?) around to keep him from having to stand out by I-95 holding a sign this coming winter.

Such a penalty as his is just down right unpatriotic!!

PS -- Anyone out there in BB Land remember the USFL?

Well we have different kind of footballs we love from each country. Like soccer or football. That what makes the world unique.

If they have no kickers and only allow 2-point conversions, why not cut the points in half?-- 3 for a touchdown, and 1 for a running or passing conversion? Baseball doesn't give 2 points for each run.

Then there's the Canadian Football League.

The CFL is somewhat similar to NFL-style football except that its field is laid out in metric dimensions and its scoring is a bit different than its southern neighbors'.

If you get an opportunity, watching CFL football is rather interesting.

1) The field is 110 yards long (midfield being the 55 yard line)

2) End Zones are 20 yards long (10 yards in NFL)

3) 12 men on the field

4) Three downs to make a first down

5) No fair catch rule in the CFL

These are some of the differences.

In the mid-70s, the World Football League, if I remember correctly, did have field goals, but no kicks on the point-after-touchdown. I think a TD counted 7 points, the scoring team could run it in for an "action point."

Anyway, the WFL is what broke down the Miami Dolphins, by signing several of their star players. Had that not been the case, Pittsburgh becoming the "team of the 70's" by winning 4 Super Bowls may well not have happened; Miami, already with 2, might have won more than 4. That is an example of how a new league can affect pro football generally, even if the league is unsuccessful.

Really IMHO, Roger Goodell has ruined the NFL. Really hope the new PAT of 15-yards will flop!

My suggestion for PAT

You could choose to kick from the 5, 15, 25 or 35 yard line

5 yard = 1 point
15 yard = 2 points
25 yard = 3 points
35 yard = 4 points
