Welcome to the board. I'm proud of my two young men--one graduated early from college last December and the younger one is going to be a sophomore at the U of Minn next fall.

Like you, I love to study the Word and I also enjoy reading, reading, reading. I'm wondering what Christian novels you've read and liked? I have a few favorite authors of Christian fiction, Randy Singer (legal thrillers), Alton Gansky (action/adventure), Chris Walley (sci-fi), C.S. Lewis, James Scott Bell (legal and other thrillers). I'm sure I'm forgetting some. I also read non-Christian authors but I would prefer to read Christian authors. The problem is most of them aren't the greatest writers.

Probably my favorite fiction novel has been Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers.
A friend of mine sparked an interest in me with the author, Ted Dekker. I've read one of his books and debating if I want to read the other 4 or 5 of his books sitting in my bookshelf. I'm not sure how to take his novels.... Have you read any of his books?
Years ago, I only read christian fiction (mostly historical romance) but for the past several years, I'm more interested in books that promote growth spiritually. I love to study about the end times, prophecy, and apologetics. The problem is the more I read; the more there is to learn!

Thanks for the welcome!

Not a problem:) Thank you for the welcome! Side note: Crystal is my middle name. I searched Scripture for a phrase to use for my username. I found clear as crystal in a few places so I went with it. My first name is a difficult one that most people can't pronounce so I'm used to be calling all kinds of names!
You're welcome. I also go by my middle name as I had a severe speech impediment as a child and could not even pronounced my own first name. :)

It's been years and years since I've read his novels, mostly the early ones. Blink was excellent, as was Blessed Child. Thr3e was a pretty good thriller, kept the tension high.

At first his books had Christian characters and there was a Christian theme but as time went on he got more and more into horror and less and less about Jesus. I remember starting the Black, Red, White trilogy but it was a startlingly bad fantasy story, very gory, and I gave up after the first book. A couple years later I tried another one of his books (can't remember which one because I quit after the first several chapters) but by then it was a gore-fest with pure evil characters.

I liked the Circle trilogy and the Showdown series. Dekker hints at Universalism, though, and by the time he gets to the Rise of the Mystics he is fully there (fictionalized, though).
