New International Version Only (NIVO)

We often speak of KJVO believers, but it seems to me that there are many NIVO individuals, also.

In other words, those who are so wedded to "dynamic" Bible versions that they mock those who prefer "formal" translations.

Anyone here experience this phenomenon?

Yes, as those who are into inclusive language translations usually get very adamant against formal ones being "too wooden, we do not speak that way"

I find it ironic that those who adamantly support the NIV (2011) can be so belligerent toward those who use the KJV.

In my personal experience, I've found them to be so adamant about their own views that they are quick to attack those who do not agree with them.

If someone is supposedly wedded to multiple "dynamic" English Bible versions, that would not be the same thing as KJV-onlyism. Someone supposedly wedded to more than one "dynamic" translation would not be NIV-only. If someone were actually NIV-only, it would be just as wrong as being KJV-only.

There is a big difference in making exclusive only claims for only one English translation--the KJV and in advocating multiple English Bible versions.

The KJV has some non-literal, non-word-for-word, dynamic equivalent renderings.

I understand what you're saying. Thank you for replying, without turning it into a personal attack, sir.

Thank you. Someone here has got it twisted. Since Feb. 28th I have started three threads and participated in four other threads in this particular forum. In none of them have I claimed or intimated an NIVO proclivity. There is not a 'thread' of evidence to suggest such foolishness that some spout.

The three threads I started dealt with the ESV, NASB, NKJV and NLT.
If anyone of a reasonable mindset would take a gander at the scores of threads I have started in this forum in my16+ years here they would plainly see my appreciation for and advancement of scads of Bible versions.

So the supposed theme of this thread has been about me and it is built on foolishness. And foolishness is built on falsehoods. Not a good idea.

In any case, this is the original post. Thank you.
