Really? Life in prison without the possibility of parole is not a reason to not kill? Besides, if execution were a detterent, Texas would not have murders. We all know that isn't the case.Mexdeaf said:I fully expect the murder rate along the NM-Mex border to increase, now that they have no reason not to follow their victims across the border.

Crabtownboy said:I fail to see the logic of your connection of the two books. What does writing about an innocent man who was sent to death row and escaped death by a few days have to do with the Bible. Are you saying the Bible supports a death sentence for the innocent? I think not.
My guess is you have not read the book. Grisham was a death penality advocate until he did the research that led to the writing of this book, his only non-fiction book to date.
I don't bet. :tonofbricks:By the way life without parole is a slow death sentence. Also, it costs more in our system to execute a man/woman than to keep them in jail the rest of their life. This has all been gone over before in other threads. You can find links in those threads or by doing a bet of Internet research.
Have a blessed day.

I have never seen an executed criminal commit another crime.

It appears that Mr. Grisham was not unbiased in his writing, which does not surprise me. What DOES surprise me is his attitude towards Mr. Peterson when Mr. Peterson tries to point out some of his (Grisham's) errors- see the letter in which Mr. Grisham says, "I have no desire to re-hash the facts and bicker about who's right and who's wrong." I guess the facts only matter when they are on Grisham's side. And that is a POOR attitude for a professing Christian such as Mr. Grisham to have.
You confuse detterence with recitivism.carpro said:Execution is the best deterrent there is.
