News Books vs. Huge Pile of Unread Books

Most of the books I purchase are Biblical references. some I use frequently others less often. It is nice to have resources handy as I'm studying the Bible. Haven't purchased any books recently though.

I cannot afford many books right now. The ones I do buy are usually used books. betterworldbooks.com is my favorite seller.

I also am much quicker to buy reference books than books to read.

My 1960's Joy of Cooking arrived today. I am so excited! I now have 4 cookbooks and I feel so lucky. It was perfect that it arrived today, and that I got An African American Cookbook off the library $1 sale rack yesterday!

I started my Thanksgiving cooking this afternoon, to make sure that I wasn't missing something critical while the stores were still open. My feast was fit for a youtube video, made of mostly cans and boxes from Dollar Store, CVS, and 7/11. LOL The salt is going to make me puffy like a marshmallow. But I am so grateful I cried through the first half of my meal.

God is not treating me like his other children, but he is here in this desolate place. Just like it is easier to see stars in the dark, it is easier to see him here.

My "bookshelves" are nothing but plastic shoe racks and little rolling utility carts that I push under the folding table that I use as my computer desk. But they keep the books handy and off the floors which I cannot keep clean here in the desert if I open any windows.

This place is also infested with roaches and the scorpions that feast on them, so I have incentive not to hoard: books are potential nests. I am scared of the scorpions! Roaches are gross, but scorpions have venom!

But I have FOUR cookbooks now. Happy dance!

Well my adventure is about to begin... Yesterday the book I have been waiting for has finally arrived... Exposition Of The Gospel of John by Arthur Pink... Just little light study of 1,154 pages... My wife handed to me as she was the one that ordered it for me and said... You're going to read that?... Yep!:D... Her books are a quarter of that... I dig deep for the hidden treasures and riches of God... I'm sure I will be posting some of his thoughts on the BB in the future... Just a pilgrim continuing my journey, to that celestial city, whose builder and maker is God... Brother Glen:)

So...you'll have it knocked out by Monday? :Wink

Enjoy! One of my favorite books is Pink's "The Sovereignty of God". Not quite as long as your book. I poured through "The Sovereignty of God", eager to find out what I would learn on the next page.

Ken... Before this pandemic hit I purchased An Exposition Of Hebrews by Pink after going through his gleanings series, and The Life Of David, except Paul, I've also read Sovereignty and Attributes and Total Depravity... I was going to read The Holy Spirit also but settled on the one by John Owen, I just finished... kyredneck is a pinkafile too, just like me and recommended, I read The Exposition On John, which I'm about to dive into... No matter who I read and study, I never take any writers word for it, I check scripture for myself as we all should and remember this scripture... Brother Glen:)

2 Timothy 2:7 Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things.

I have some unread books, but I'm in the middle of reading one of them. I love to hunt for treasures in the second hand stores, discount stores, used book stores, garage sales, swap meets, etc.

The book I'm reading now is called "The Nature and Character of God" by W.A. Pratney
