I cannot afford many books right now. The ones I do buy are usually used books.
betterworldbooks.com is my favorite seller.
I also am much quicker to buy reference books than books to read.
My 1960's
Joy of Cooking arrived today. I am so excited! I now have 4 cookbooks and I feel so lucky. It was perfect that it arrived today, and that I got
An African American Cookbook off the library $1 sale rack yesterday!
I started my Thanksgiving cooking this afternoon, to make sure that I wasn't missing something critical while the stores were still open. My feast was fit for a youtube video, made of mostly cans and boxes from Dollar Store, CVS, and 7/11. LOL The salt is going to make me puffy like a marshmallow. But I am so grateful I cried through the first half of my meal.
God is not treating me like his other children, but he is here in this desolate place. Just like it is easier to see stars in the dark, it is easier to see him here.
My "bookshelves" are nothing but plastic shoe racks and little rolling utility carts that I push under the folding table that I use as my computer desk. But they keep the books handy and off the floors which I cannot keep clean here in the desert if I open any windows.
This place is also infested with roaches and the scorpions that feast on them, so I have incentive not to hoard: books are potential nests. I am scared of the scorpions! Roaches are gross, but scorpions have venom!
But I have FOUR cookbooks now. Happy dance!
