Inflammatory, when there are French aircraft on their way here loaded with all kinds of good stuff. Now at other times and in other situations, lay on MacDuff.

'Sides if the Frecnch happen into the right towns, the Cajuns will make them feel at home.

Ain't you gonna hold out the hope that some might like the French?
From "our" track record here it does not appear to be the case. I am sure there are some, but the number is few.

I contend that it is fear of France and a strong EU that causes some of the bitter feelings towards the people of France.

I do appreciate the positive comments and hope that Jean Claude has not been run off by a couple of boorish comments.

Info on the Statue of Liberty

"One of the many proofs of Freemasonry's cult of liberty, and furthermore of its deep influence upon our culture and mentality, is the Statue of Liberty. This colossus in New York's harbor was conceived by Freemasons, financed by Freemasons, built by Freemasons, and installed by Freemasons in a Freemasonic ceremony."

Your point? </font>
The point is that everything is a part of the great conspiracy.

I really don't see what Jean Claude was reacting to. The title of your thread was as offensive as any of the posts up until he left. Did you delete some posts?

I though I found a christian forum but nothing in here is worthy of Christ. I found nothing but insults, arguements, ill will and in general mean spirited comments. I am sorry for this sade state of affaire. Au revoir C4K... you are a good man.

The French were always very sensitive.

These insults concerning the French were childs play compared to some I could post said by my hero Sir Winston S Churchill.

I deleted a post and edited another post.

Your Brother in Christ, a member of this board, a Baptist, who has not posted very much, has been deeply offended by a slang word referring to the French.

It is not a matter of being sensitive. It is a matter of being crude, boorish, and offensive to a fellow member of the board. It certainly wouldn't be permissible to use other derogatory terms regarding ethnic groups, and the word that was posted and was deleted falls into that category.

And I might add this is kind of a thank you thread. La belle France sends us goodies and then we turn around and insult them. Not on this thread; maybe on another but not this one.

I hope no insults on any threads on the BB! This may be a news/current events forum but we are still supposed to be behaving like Christians and, one hopes, like adults.

I don't know why Christians think they can be nasty if the topic is politics or current events.

What your hero, and a leader I admire greatly, said as a non-Christian, should not be a role model for us.

Sisters and Brothers

Thank you to all on this discussion board who realized that beyond races and nationalities, we possess a gospel that claims a heavenly citizenship for those who truly belong to Him.

I came to (accidentally) read this tread, my attention being attracted by the word “Francophobe” I did not realized that so much bad blood existed between our two nations (I will stay short of saying “hatred”). I can assure you that this feeling is not reciprocal and that in France, you would be welcomed with open arms. Surely some of my acquaintances would be astounded by what has been said and written (not only on this tread) about the French by America, a people we have always considered our friends.

All right, enough recrimination. I must admit that I may have appeared somewhat "thin skin" to some of you…. forgive me for this (all this proves that I am still all too human). I am looking forward to get to know whoever on this board is ready to allow me this privilege.

By way of introduction, I am a 60 year old Church Elder in a small community North of Edmonton Alberta. I came to Canada in 1968 to practice Architecture and shortly after was found by our Lord Jesus Christ, was saved and kept by His grace. I have a 37 years old son (two granddaughters 16 and 17) and a 30 years old daughter leaving in Redlands CA.

In HIS Name

Bonjour Jean Claude,

I have never been poorly treated in France. Every person I have tried to talk to has been gracious and helpful. I was trying to buy stamps at a post office outside the tourist area and was having a hard time getting the clerk to understand. Someone in the queue saw my dilemma and came over and sorted things out immediately.

You are welcome here Jean Claude. Merci for your comments. I hope we will hear more from you. I think you input could help clear up some things.

I was a little shocked by the deleted post. It shows gang mentality - a poster here was treated distainfully by someone who didn't even know him. We often see this directed at liberals (favorite target) and non-Americans.

A lot of this freely expressed malice towards the French is merely following the example of our current administration who were piqued by France's opposition to our Iraq War.

Anywho, welcome, Jean Claude Petit! I'm glad you weren't run off after all.

Let me add, now that I have looked back, that I wouls haved deleted the comments if I had seen them. </font>
It wouldn't have been a bad idea to think about editing your title to this thread.

Referring to some of your fellow board members as francophobes is not exactly an invitation to civil discussion.

Of course not. But it still means you believe some of us are.

If I remember correctly , you don't like others to indiscriminately toss around the term "Bush Haters". What is the difference between that and what you did?

No "Bush hater" posts were edited or deleted. Some believe there are thos who hate Bush. I believe they are some who are afraid of or do not like the French. The derogatory comment that had to be deleted is evidence.

Nontheless - I will edit the title.

If you saw the deleted posts, you would not think the belief misplaced.

Some people take great pride in maligning all things French whether they have any personal experience with them or not. It's weird, but true.

If the shoe fits, wear it. If it doesn't, don't even try to put it on.
In other words, if what I say is a size 9 and you take a size thirteen, obviously the shoe isn't yours.
