When you allow discrimination in the work place, who do you think the wolrd dislikes( or even hates in some instances) the most? Us. Chrsitans. So when you allow discrimination, whose next? Us. I disagree with discrimination in job hiring.

SheEagle911--the largest group with the AIDS virus are black heterosexuals. It is very widespread in African countries right now. BTW anyone, why on earth would your waitor/waitress tell you that they're gay??? I don't walk up to people and say "Hi, I'm James. I'll be your server this evening and I'm a heterosexual." That sounds kinda funny. Also, there is a case pending in the U. S. Supreme Court right now involving 2 gay men from Houston. They are calling into the question the anti-sodomy law we have in Texas. Here's my question, how did the cops know what they were doing in their house? I guess they had the curtains pulled back. I want to add one more thing. Since when did people start asking one's sexual orientation before giving them a job? I think that's pretty stupid. Show me in the Bible where it tells us to ask people whether thry're gay or not. Don't get me wrong, I think they're being sinful if they're living this way, but the Bible does not tell us to discriminate against these people. Whatever happened to love thy enemy? In the long run, if God wills it, they will turn and repent from their wicked ways. In the mean time, all we can do is pray for them. God Bless. Bro. James.

Oh, I thought the topic was about Cracker Barrel. They have Cracker Barrels in Africa? Go figure.

Actually, most communities have restaurants where certain "people" are employed and certain "people" are regular customers. You know, the word on the street. I know of a Ruby Tuesdays where homos/lesbos hang out and homos/lesbos work there. I didn't know this, of course, ahead of time, heard a rumor, went there anyway, and when there was a same sex couple making out in the booth across the way, and afterlooking over the general scene in there, etc., my friend and I decided we'd pass, just finish our coffee, order nothing else, and leave, thank you very much. And I know of several ChiChi's where there are lots of homos & lesbos who are employed (larger # than heteros), different cities, different people I know quit working there after a couple of days seeing what was going on, etc.

If you dine out very much at all, you find out or hear where "the places" are in your community unless you live under a rock, so you don't need the server making an announcement at your table. Catch my drift?

And, I'm glad you don't walk up to people and tell them you're a heterosexual. I don't either. But then heterosexuals don't have an agenda to push....

Actually I overheard his conversation with his lover and he introduced him as such,
Oh... hmmm... personally, if I were sexually involved with someone, and they introduced me as their lover, I'd be rather offended. But since I'm not, I guess I won't have to worry ;) Of course, I'd typically wonder if you were evesdropping, but it doesn't sound like you were.

besides that I can normally spot em.
Oh no, you mean ther IS such a thing as gay-dar?? Does that mean you knew all along that Mike Brady was gay? I met Robert Reed once and he was as masculine as James Bond. Seriously, I was once asked if I was gay, based on the fact that I had a great haircut and was wearing an Armani suit. My reply was "no, I'm as straight as a board". On the flip side, I've met very feminine women who turned out to be lesbian, so if we're blessed with gay-dar, my antenna must have been out of alignment.

As to the question on unmarried heterosexuals, yes sometimes I do assume they are having sex, it is a pretty easy assumption in the U.S. with our teen pregnancy and abortion rate being as high as it is.
Well, I was referring more to people my age, in their late 20's and early 30's.

    Call me a liberal
    O.K. I will.

Except I'm not. I tend to side most with the possum party (Where do you find most possums? In the middle of the road. Get it???)

    What if I'm pro-choice
    Are you?

More specifically, am I pro-abortion? Generally speaking, no.

Exactly my point. Or worse, what if they decide that they only want to hire old-earth creationists?? Would that be morally appropriate to the rest of us?

how exactly are you going to catch HIV if someone sneezes on you? or if you ingest their blood? - I suppose if your gums were cracked and bleeding and they came into contact with their blood their would be a risk of exposure - but sneezing?

really, this is the kind of ill-informed 'opinion' that should have been corrected by now.....

Does anyone know for sure what the percentage of gays in America is compared to the General Population?

I'm not asking for the homosexual lobby numbers, I mean real concrete statistics.

I find it incredible that so many companies are bending over backwards to get on board the politically correct bandwagon.

really, this is the kind of ill-informed 'opinion' that should have been corrected by now.....</font>[/QUOTE]Actually, InHim, you are the one who is misinformed, as well as most of the general public.

    Here's an authoritative medical source:

A big deal is not made about the threat of air borne transmission in order to avert panic. I saw a CDC official interviewed a few years back who admitted (on camera) that AIDS/HIV can be transmitted through air borne transmission.

People I know who work in surgery are concerned about possible infection through mist in cutting (Bovie electrocautery) and fluids in surgery, even though precautions are taken. There are surgeons and other health care workers who have left the profession because of the risk of infectious disease.

And because of huge "gay rights" activism and political correctness, testing for AIDS/HIV is not mandatory as a routine lab workup on admission to the hospital, though a routine chest x-ray (for TB), along with a CBC and UA, was considered standard practice only a few years ago (without informed consent).

When you've been in health care for over 30 years such as I have been, then maybe I'll consider you a credible source. [IMG]

It seems the day is at hand when we will no longer be able to buy or sell unless we accept bestial philosophy (receive the mark on our foreheads) and practice the same (receive the mark on our hands).

Jesus said that the love of many would wax cold. When I look into my own heart in the light of His Words, I question whether I have love enough for the Kingdom of God to deny myself these luxuries.

Oh wretched man that I am!

SheEagle. Are you a physician? A biologist? Do you hold any advanced degrees in medicine or a related field? If so, then you are a credible source - but you haven't demonstrated such.

The CDC on the other hand is a credible source. This quote is from Page 3 of Exposure to Blood - What Health-Care Workers Need to Know.

The report can be found (as a PDF) here.

I've been a hospital chaplain for over five years now. I've held hands with HIV+ patients and held them while they cried - with no concern whatsoever of infection. It's a very fragile virus.

Joshua, since you feel it necessary to jump in and defend InHim, the discussion wasn't about skin contact. It was about air-borne (molecules) and blood borne contamination, i.e., food, sneezing, and cut bleeding fingers in salad prep. I already posted about the CDC interview on camera regarding air borne infection such as through sneezing and mist; if you bothered to read my entire post, you would have picked up on that.

I agree with you there is very little risk with skin contact. It is admirable that you have held hands with dying HIV/AIDS patients. The discussion is not about compassion. The discussion was about risk of infection due to sneezing (air borne) or HIV/AIDS blood exposure while chopping salad lettuce (i.e., HIV/AIDS, cut, blood, wet lettuce, consumer ingestion).

Holding hands with dying HIV/AIDS patients, while admirable, is a far cry from being an actual health care worker who risks infection from needle sticks, blood draws, bodily fluids (including saliva), surgical mists of tissue, bone, & blood, etc. Having a degree or M.D. after one's name has nothing to do with refuting misinformation of the issue of the kind InHim was propagating. With 30+ years in health care, this is my field of expertise, M.D. or not. You may not personally consider that noteworthy, but in the medical profession, most physicians I've encountered over the years (literally thousands) do respect my fund of knowledge. I seem to have their respect as a peer even though I don't have the credentials. Go figure. [IMG]

    Sheeagle,

What exactly have you done in the medical field for the last 31 years?

Actually, chaplains are healthcare workers. We do not perform medical procedures, but in the ER it's not at all unusual for the Chaplain to assist in any way necessary during a trauma. I've also administered first aid during seizures, etc. I've had plenty of contact with blood and vomit (using universal precautions whenever possible).

As for airborne transmission of HIV, this if from the Air Force's Dental Office:

    found here.

I didn't have time to search through the 11,000 CDC documents on HIV, but airborne transmission wasn't even mentioned in the first 20 or so I looked at.

Can you point to a single, clinically proven instance of a healthy adult who was infected with HIV through airborne transmission?

    Joshua

P.S. Did you ever actually say what your medical training is?

For me the question of AIDS in the workplace is the same as for any other infecteous disease. It doesn't matter to me if the illness in question is HIV or TB. As it has been pointed out, currently, the main carriers are not homosexual.

But, we are no longer discussing Cracker Barrel and its policies. So, I am giving a six hour third page warning. Either Brother C.S. or I will close this thread No Earlier Than 330p PST/630p EST(Board Time).
    In His service,
    Robertsson

The sad thing is that I never figured out what decision Cracker Barrel made since the link doesn't work and the discussion is about "homos" cutting hair and providing quality food service.

What did Cracker Barrel do? (Please try to stick to facts and not biases.)

    BB,

They used to have strongly discriminatory hiring practices which are apparently no longer in place.
