your quotes talk about infection in general not how HIV specifically is known to spread.

I can find no one at all that agrees with you that HIV can be spread through the air or through food preparation - perhaps you could provide some links?

no proven transmission of HIV/AIDS through the air or from a persons sneeze/cough, although risk of other diseases such as TB can be a risk.

the HIV virus cannot live in our oxygen rich atmosphere, therefore if it is somehow lifted into the wind, it is no risk.

HIV is not transmitted through casual, every day contact. Since HIV is not transmitted by saliva, it is impossible to get it through sharing a glass, a fork, a sandwich, or fruit.

Three studies of household contacts, in the U.S., Europe, and Africa, have shown that AIDS is not casually transmitted by normal activities, even when people are in close living arrangements. All the studies examined households where someone had AIDS to see if any of the other members in that household had become infected (sexual contact was excluded). Many of these households included a small child as the one who has AIDS. These children continued to play with siblings in the manner that children play: wrestling, fighting, spitting, sharing food and clothes, and many other activities. No other member of any of the households shows any sign of being infected. This study shows that AIDS is a difficult disease to get, and that even the intimate exposure common among small children living together is not sufficient to transmit the virus.

In our present academic atmosphjere, controlled by grants and, hence, by politics that often are special interest politics, it is all too advantageous for someone with a yen for recognition and advancement to publish a "scientific" article that toes the party line.

The present party line in hospitals is this: AIDS is being neatly kept in check with "universal precautions," namely gloves, gowns and goggles. I am here to say it is not. AIDS remains dangerously on the loose. . . .

AIDSpeak translates into death.

When I accept a patient, both of my hands are bound. As a doctor entrusted with this patient's care, I am allowed to test without permission for any diease known to man -- except AIDS.

As a patient, you have the right to know about your surgeon's schooling, lawsuits, professional track record, specialization and, I suspect, credit rating as well -- practically everything except the fact that your surgeon may carry the virus that kills.

You were viciously attacked by politicians, the press, the gay community in San Francisco, and even medical people, when you questioned the wisdom of blood banks in 1988 holding blood drives in high risk gay communities, such as the Castro district in San Frnacisco. How safe is the nation's blood supply?

Thoughout the entire controversy, nobody ever talked with me. None of my medical coleagues publicly supported my stand. In the meantime, go ahead and call me bigoted and paranoid for praying over my food, for not frequenting eating establishments where there is an abnormal ratio of hiring gays for food prep and food servers and feel free to eat all the possible HIV/AIDS nosocromial infected, spray/mist infected, or blood soaked lettuce you want! It's a free country. Just don't get the server mad, cause sometimes SOME servers spit in your food, (I know, it's not really true), and be sure you leave a generous tip!

Earlier you posted your CDC source and appeared to feel that it was creditable, why has your opinion changed when I post the exact same source?

There are no creditable bodies that agree with you I'm afraid, none at all.

I very much hope that you do not continue to spread your disinformation and that you re-examine your opinion in the light of the facts.

SheEagle - could you clarify where someone has attacked you?

To rehash my points:

- If you claim to have medical knowledge to back up your claims, tell us what it is. You don't even have to say where you work or went to school. Just give us your level of education and your job title.

- Can you point to medical studies performed by reputable clinicians and researchers?

- I do, in fact, trust the Centers for Disease Control.

In case anyone's interested, the two men in TX did not have the drapes pulled back as has been alleged. The police received an anonymous tip and went to the home where they found the two men in bed together.

Kinda like the Spanner case and Bowers v. Hardwick.

Transmission pathways aren't quite as cut and dried as some would assert. This article does however, support the assertion that the AIDS virus can't be spread via airborne transmission.

Health workers have become infected by contact with other body fluids of infected individuals. Some workers were infected through conditions like eczema and some received contact through the eyes or mouth. Again, body fluids from the infected individual may include tears, saliva, urine, vomitus, etc. Remember, all body secretions contain the virus.
