    Thats why this lawyer is suing. It's deceptive to list saturated fat in the nutritional values but not to list PHOs which are equally as harmful. He makes a good point in saying the stuff isn't even edible. In actuality, he's right. It's like eating wax. It's not even real food. I hope common sence preveils here and Kraft does the honorable thing and stops using it.

    Fear Not had this list:
    I went through my shelves and found transfats in all of the following...
    crackers
    cake mixes (Lots of sugar too)
    cookies
    stuffing mixes (Lots of sugar too)
    hot cocoa (almost all sugar)
    cereals
    breads
    brownies (Boxed?)
    muffins
    doughnuts
    pies
    biscuits
    pita bread
    tortillas
    chips
    cheese curls
    popcorn
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Well there's your problem! The only foods listed above that I have in my house is Pop corn (lowfat Orville Redenbaker) and saltine crackers (which are eaten only with my homemade soups) and cereals. Not all cereals are bad tho.
    GET RID of any boxed foods! Why oh why would you buy boxed stuffing!! It's SO easy to make your own. We had it last night! I use my homemade, defatted broth and an egg with NO fats added.
    Also, get a bread machine! I make our breads almost every day. There are loads of very healthy bread recipes online. Most of mine have oatmeal as an ingredient.
    My husband dropped his cholesterol from 235 to 174 by changing to low fat milk and giving up his snacks at night.
    I don't buy foods like puddings, cookies, and other junk. Hubby WILL show up with Little Debbie snacks but he's the only one who eats them.
    They'll take my Oreos when they pry them from my cold, dead, chocolate and cream-encrusted fingers!!!
    Oh, yeah, ain't nuthin' better than a big ol' plate of fried chicken and mashed taters and gravy, and a big ol'cathead biscuit!
    That's good eatin'!
    Anyone who is seriously interested about learning some truths about fats and fats ought to get a copy of Mary Enig's Know Your Fats. She dispels some common myths and gives good information. It seems to me the topic starter was in earnest with posting the initial post, but some just want to belittle him/her. I see nothing spiritual about such jesting.
    In my country people do not know about the health risks of trans fats. In fact most cardiologists are quite foolish in recommending margarines and such fats for such who have had heart attacks, and such who have problem with cholesterol levels. Myself have avoided fats that contain trans fats for a few years now. I choose not to take in such plastic fat.
    A common myth put out by some is that saturated fat per se is unhealthy and something to be avoided. That is just that, a myth and a lie. Learn from Dr. Enig or some other knowledgeable person.
    The thing we call fat is in fact fatty acids. And there are three kinds of them in foods. Saturated, monounsaturated, and polyunsaturated. God Almighty has created all three kinds, none of them are unhealthy or to be avoided in and of themselves. Fatty acids are as essential for our well being as proteins, carbohydrates, minerals, water, and vitamins. When it concerns fat it is not about the quantity, quality is more important. Some people can eat fairly high amounts of fats and not have any health problems if the quality of the fats they eat is good.
    As for me some of the fat foods I eat and favour are plain butter made from cow's milk, virgin olive oil, the fat found in eggs, including that of the yolk, the fat of fish food. Fats to avoid for one who is interested in his/her health would include the aforementioned partially hydrogenated vegetable oils, margarines, and foods containing them. Myself would recommend no vegetable oils except virgin olive oil and certain other cold pressed ones.
    Much more could be said, but such who want to learn more may ask and search and they will find.
    I didn't know how to cook when we got married and knew that my husband's family had quite a history of heart problems. SO.... I started off cooking healthy. It took Jim a while to adjust but newly weds........ he wanted to please me..... LOL
    He still will bring in Little Debbie type things and we sometimes have Breyers Ice Cream but the meals I make are very healthy. I make LOTS of meals in my slow cooker and that takes NO oil! Katie's BBQ ribs in the slow cooker are to die for! Mmmmmmmmmmm.........
    I cook with Virgin Olive Oil IF I have to use oil and I almost never use oils. A few of my bread recipes call for a small amount of vegetable oil tho, and I haven't found a substitute that didn't ruin the breads.
    I prefer healthy food. I eat Fried Chicken if we go to Ryan's (a buffet style restaurant). In fact, when we go to Ryans, I also eat Fried Okra and Macaroni and Cheese.... Once or twice a year won't kill me! LOL.
    I don't care for desserts or candy. Pepsi is my vice. I've had 1 1/2 cans already at 3:30 today. I usually have 3-4 a day.
    Diane
    p.s. I thought this was a funny thread and don't think anyone was belittling the thread starter. In fact, we're laughing at OURSELVES! LOL.
    I do not think that people are coming down on the original poster, but rather on the absurdity of the message.
    I have no doubt that eating too many Oreos and other foods with these fats is bad for you. What makes people go negative, though, is the way the message is being sent across.
    There seems to be a whole group of these self-appointed "food nazis" who are always getting into people's faces about what not to eat. A person's food is a very sensitive and personal issue, and so many people (myself included) get very offended and defensive when people try to pull food out of our mouths while shaking their collective finger at our faces. THIS is what people resent, and so people respond the way they do.
    Anybody born in America before 1970 had tons of monosodium glutamate shoved into their mouths as babes, as it was present as a preservative in all baby foods. And now....
    Not to mention our drinking water....
    Everyone is gonna die of something. So, the "food nazis" & trial lawyers - lay off my Oreos & McDonalds & KFC, please! :rolleyes:
    Let freedom ring!
    Lets go back and take a look at my intent in the opening post:
    Christians of all people should be examples of how one should take care of thier body. The reality of the matter is that we ARE NOT free to do as we please. Here are some verses that we could apply to this matter:
    1 Cor 6:19-20
    Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.
    Romans 14:17
    For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit,
    Col 3:23
    Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men,
    Born of God: I don't think anyone was mocking you. I know I wasn't. But, it is good for Christians to laugh and have a sense of humor.
    The government has been telling us not to eat this and not to eat that. Then five years later, they come back and say, "OK, we made a mistake, you can eat those foods again, they are perfectly safe." :confused:
    We are all going to die of something and food just happens to be one of the things we can enjoy before we do.
    I think, possibly, one of the reasons so many people get burned out is because we put too many restrictions on ourselves in places where it is not necessary.
    Blessings,
    Sue
