NIV & New Age Movement by Al Lacey

Most of this seems to be a rehash
of the lame teaching of Pastor
G.A.Riplinger as found in NEW AGE VERSIONS.
This book has been extensively disected
in this Forum for years now.

Paragraphs, commas, periods, and the Shift key are your friends.

Oh, and try reading Westcott and Hort for yourself, rather than what the KJV-only liars' club says about them.

I second StefanM here. In prior posts, DeclareHim has clearly stood in opposition to KJVOism. I think DeclareHim is simply "rattling off" the crux of Lacey's ranting (that he refers to in the original post). If StefanM and I are not correct, then DeclareHim has switched to being a KJVO almost overnight!

DeclareHim, could you verify that, in fact, that's what you were doing above?

Stefan & Larry are right I just thought I would post this "message" by a "preacher" I listened to I believe its sheer stupidity. This is all laughable but I want to point out a few things anyway in case you meet someone who believes this stuff. New Agers don't have leaders. That is one of the characteristics of the NAM -- it's leaderless. There are writers and people who influence others, but not leaders. I am a former New Ager and my ministry deals with this, and I can guarantee you -- 100% -- that no New Ager has the faintest idea who Westcott and Hort are, nor would they care. They probably would not know an NIV if it bit them.

Also, witches do not believe in Satan and do not worship him (another area of my ministry is the occult).

The sad irony of all this is that these people are afraid the New Age is a danger because of the NIV or NASB when actually some very conservative believers are getting into New Age (and occult) practices and beliefs through yoga, energy healing, and other stuff that is mainstreaming in the culture. I have heard from believers who are accepting chakras (from Hinduism) and auras.

Satan can get us to look at the wrong thing so that we ignore the real dangers, and this is what is happening here with this NIV New Age myth.

This statemetn does NOT COMPUTE.
Apparently Lacey comes from one of the ignorance cults.
Ignorance cults teachs that God loves the ignorant more
than the educated; that ignorant (not knowing) ones are
less likely to stray from God than the educated fools.

1. Lacey seems unsure of what Westcott and Hort did??
2. Lacey appears ignorant of the seperate religions:
New Age, Satanism, and Paganism.
Well, he did get one thing right: a "warlock" is
a "male witch". New AGe, Satanism, and Paganism (the
religion of a warlock) are each seperate religions.
I've really not run across anybody who
practices any two of these religions at the same time.

theologians. Westcott and Hort were prolific authors
(writing about 50 books between them!), but are most
well known today for their revision work on the Greek
New Testament (1881)."

Note that they were not translators, but did determine
what properly belonged in the Greek New Testament
and what did not. BTW, if one will read the Translators
notes in the King James Version, 1611 Edition (KJV1611)
for the New Testament, there are side notes that
start out: "Gk." These sidenotes denote that the Greek
New Testament sources available to the KJV Translators
were in variation one with the other. The KJV Translators
chose which was the best source placing that translation
in the text and the alternate tranlsation in the sidenote.

Most King James VErsion, 1769 editon (KJV1769) Bibles
do NOT have the translator sidenotes. Thus the KJV1769
deceives the reader by not noting that even the King James
Version Translators knew there are varying Greek New Testament
Sources. The KJV1611 translators are honest in that they
did the same thing that Westcott and Hort did: have an
opinion about what was the best Greek Source of the New Testament.

I think Westcott and HOrt were Anglican (Church of England).
The stories that they were Devil WOrshipers and/or Pagans
doesn't hold enough water to deserve the time i spent to
write this sentence to refute it.
