No, a Vote for a Third Party (or Abstaining from Voting) Is not the Same as a Vote for Hillary

If folks who say they followed Christ wrote in the same person, it would be a slam dunk every time.
Would it? What percent of the US electorate are conservative Christians? I live in a county that is 91% Hispanic, 71% registered Democrat, and 68% identify themselves as "conservative Christians."

Back in 2008 and 2012 I thought this as well. I thought stopping Obama was the most important thing. So I held my nose and voted for McCain and then Romney. But no more. If the country is going to be destroyed I don't want to have voted for the person destroying it, be it Hilary or Trump. Both of them will destroy this country. I live in a solid Red state so it won't matter in the grand scheme of things, but if it sends the GOP a message so much the better. Trump was clearly the Establishments 3rd choice so they can now live with the deal they made. I'm done with them. I think Sen. Sasse has the best idea. Get a Polk like President to come in for 4 years and clean house and then we can all reevaluate in 2020. But since that is not going to happen I'll just sit back and watch the implosion of the GOP and the Dems to a lesser extent.
Trump's victory is sending the GOP a message.

Biggrin Yes. That's why I said a LARGE write-in campaign. If folks who say they followed Christ wrote in the same person, it would be a slam dunk every time.
The problem with that has been, and continues to be, that you haven't shared who you think that one person should be...other than possibly Rand Paul. Sorry, but where do we find that Rand Paul fits those Christian guidelines we should be voting for?

So start the movement; identify someone we should all be getting behind.

Trying to suppress the GOP vote again is all this is - history shows he will never reveal the write-in candidate - that's "private". Then he'll go on the next thread and tell every one that they're voting for evil - except people like CTB, that is.

Ever since I starting voting, I've never liked any of these people. Bush v. Gore was the first - disliked the Bush family and Al was already too green . . . then Bush v. Kerry - Bush wasn't that impressive in his first term to me and Kerry came off as a snob and his false testimony about Vietnam. Then there was Obama v. McCain, probably the worst choice of all - Obama WAS an embodiment of the cult of personality, a media creation like Trump but McCain seemed feeble and crazy. Then Obama and Romney - he didn't deserve a second term at all but RomneyCare was on Mittens.

So now it's Hillary and Trump, bleh - Hillary is duller than dirt, more corrupt than Obama and she's the abortion queen, Trump is erratic and inexperienced in politics - you can't run the government like a business and he's an admitted opportunist. But I'm not going to write-in anybody, they don't even count them in this state. I still wonder sometimes if the GOP doesn't wish they had the super delegate system that Hillary is benefiting from - Trump would've never been the nominee. The guy I initially supported was out almost first but the people have spoken and I'm glad the GOP will nominate their choice.

But the deadlines are fast approaching in the various states to qualify as a write in candidate. In many states (I think we saw the Arizona example here on this or another thread), for a write in to be counted as valid the person has to appear on the "approved" list.
SNIP

Now you know that the ballots haven't been made up yet. But anyone whose name gets written in has the same opportunity to garner more votes. Unlikely, but the opportunity does exist.

Rand Paul has endorsed Trump.

“Now those people out there, those people out there who are saying ‘stop Trump,’ I can understand ‘stop Trump’ in a primary process. But stop Trump or you’ll vote for Hillary? Stop Trump or you won’t vote at all? These people are not conservatives. They’re not constitutionalists. They’re frauds. They’re fakes. They’re not brave. They’re asinine. They’re buffoons."

----Mark Levin---

I tend to agree.

So vote for the lesser of two evil evils.

I wonder?....Who would Jesus vote for? Pilate or Herod?

Yes, it is. It is naive to think otherwise. Just look at the 1992 election cycle.

Bill Clinton got 44,909,806 popular votes.
George H.W. Bush got 39,104,550 popular votes.
Ross Perot got 19,743,821 popular votes.

Do the math! Perot was to the right of Bush. Had he dropped out, if only half of his supporters had voted for bush, and the rest abstained from voting for anyone, Bush would have garnered 50 million votes and been the President for 4 more years.

What is certain is that all the polling showed that Perot only took votes from Bush. None of them told the exit pollsters they would have voted for Clinton if Perot dropped out.

We have the same thing today. None of the Cruz supports will vote for Hilary. But if they vote for anyone other than Trump (holding their nose as they do so), or abstain, Hilary will be the next President, will appoint 5 new Supreme Court Justices, and change the character of our once great nation in far more significant ways than Obama even though of doing.

Time to wake up and smell the coffee! Trump would have been my last choice from among the Republican candidates, but he is now the presumptive GOP nominee. Either get behind him or surrender the country to Hilary.
Trump is in because of crossover democrats. Each and every primary had democrats crossing over to vote for the candidate who Hilary could best in the general election. They did the same when Obama received the nomination, they thought and wrongly that Hilary would beat Obama and that failed to transpire but they also ensured a weak Republican in McCain and a nobody like Obama was able to win the election. McCain had the support of almost all the republicans and many independents and still lost. then they crossed over and in the next primaries and ensured Rominy and he too having the support of most republicans and independents lost too. Now you have Trump a liberal democrat all the way, Pro-Choice, Pro-LGBT and their bathroom and dressing rooms issue, pro-single payer (Government) health care. A man who has financially supported, Harry Reid, Rahm Emanuel, Hilary Clinton and other democrats with campaign contributions and republicans are wanting people to support him because they want to stop Hilary. But those who crossed over for Trump and the proof was in Indiana, will swing back to Hilary and the results will be a Hilary Presidency, based on the Democrats uniting for her and the republican base will never be enough. If by Chance the Republicans come together and Trump wins, what do we have, a Liberal Democrat to appoint liberal judges, and change the character of this nation in a far more significant way than Obama. The last choice for Christian Americans to make their voice heard is voting third party, only one candidate I have found so far would be Pro-Life that is the Constitution Party Candidate, problem is he will not be on the ballot in most states.

ITL, this is one of the primary reasons I have said for years that there is no difference between the race hustling that AL Sharpton does and that which the likes of Levin, Hannity and O'reilly and Limbaugh do.

They don't care about much other than protecting their pockets just like Sharpton. If it means winning, they would probably tow the party line if the guy was named Lucifer Morningstar.

Hillary is pure evil, and will finish the job obamo started if she gets in. Trump is the wild card, and might possibly surprise us.

Trump is the one the the people wanted, so the GOP should have changed their rules and blocked him, or put up a better candidate to challenge him
Trump is the one the Democrats wanted to run against Hilary and they crossed over to ensure it in all the Primaries, it didn't help in a few sates but Indiana crossovers proved to put Trump in place. The states with closed primaries with the exception of Penn. where 20% of Democrats changed affiliation went to Cruz or others, but Trump received enough votes from the crossover to steal the nomination and ensure a liberal president, either himself or Hilary. And America suffers but God is still in control, Daniel 2:21 "And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding:" whoever American gets God will have put them in place, for the good or bad of the nation. With the moral decay of America I would say he will give the people what they desire a morally decayed leader, until we as Christians begin to take a stand and start to push the Godly issues that this nation deserves.

So no Rand Paul, and no response to my question.

In your opinion, of all the candidates available for write-in, who would you suggest or recommend? Who do YOU plan on writing in?

Jesus will have voted for whoever wins. He is in charge, and His vote is the only one that really counts. He gives us the government we deserve. :)
Me thinks you have a bad case of Deterministic Divine Sovereignty on the brain. ;)

"If Jesus were to vote" I believe His focus would be of the "greater good" rather than the "lessor of two evils" seems how He is in "Providential Divine Sovereign" control of the situation where He allows the volition of His creatures who do vote...IOWs Jesus would not pick between evils...for He is without iniquity...

Of course He doesn't vote...

This tired old argument of the Socialists . . .

I wonder?....Who would Jesus vote for?
Christ acknowledged Pilate's authority, and reminded him that the power he had was given to him by God.

Jesus doesn't vote. He reigns, but magistrates are selected from among men, and men are sinners. For good or for evil, fairly or fraudulently, the nominees and winners are chosen by God.

But He who commanded us to love our neighbors as ourselves, if He were to vote, would render that vote where He felt it would do the most to spell fewer stripes for His neighbor, whether or not that vote was for an atheist, pagan or believer; and whether or not he had one wife or ten.

So for my part, my neighbor won't go down because I was worried about the sainthood of the candidate.

Bottom line - I believe this could be a very close election - both popular and EC.
Now if in one State or commonwealth - a third part took enough votes from Trump - and the EC of that particular state/commonwealth made the difference in the winner of the POTUS........
