You may recall or you probably don't.....

I posted a few days ago that I would be banning the usual suspects who do nothing but incessantly fight and scratch and bite over the same old garbage day after day ad nausem and tattletale ad nausem.

I won't be. One regular member approached me and told me that as a female, I have no right to moderate men. And that it is possible to do what they are doing and still going out and evangelize the lost..

I was told that I just didn't understand how men talk to each other. So I deleted the post in humiliation.

I'll leave the banning the male moderators.

But I was right. Our site says in the top left hand corner - "A Christ Centered Community".

Do you believe that?

Scarlett, we appreciate the work you have performed.
You are not moderating men, you are moderating the BaptistBoard.
If men choose to post here. They do so under the rules that they chose to follow when they signed up.

This is a private Baptist board. BaptistBoard.com is run by a group of Administrators and Moderators who have volunteered to help out with the site. In addition to the User Agreement (see below), topics or posts which do not follow these guidelines face the risk of being edited or deleted altogether.

  1. Be aware of forum Categories. We offer a wide range of forums. Most are for BAPTISTS only, to post opinions, views, beliefs and ideas. We also have a few forums for Baptists and all other Christians, with pertinent topics that relate to everyone. Please make sure you are posting in the correct section.
  2. Use discretion when posting. Not all topics are beneficial or edifying to the board. Topics and/or posts that would condone racism, every form of greed, selfishness, and vice, and all forms of sexual immorality, including but not limited to adultery, homosexuality, and pornography are strictly prohibited. In addition, topics and/or posts that seek to promote clearly unscriptural and controversial social and moral positions, such as abortion, are prohibited as well. The official position of The Baptist Board is that life begins at conception. Opinions, stated as fact, that would contradict the board's position on this issue will be edited or deleted entirely. The decision to deem a thread or post inappropriate will remain at the discretion of the Webmaster or his designee. Titus 2:11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, 12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; 13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ.
  3. Show grace to the other posters. When someone disagrees with you, discuss it; but be slow to offend, and eager to get into the Word and find the answers. Remember, when discussing passionate issues, it is easy to go too far and offend. Further, if we are "earnestly contending for the faith" it would be unrealistic not to expect at times to be misunderstood or even ridiculed. But please note that your words can sometimes be harsh if used in the wrong way. The anger of man worketh not the righteousness of God.
  4. Personal attacks will not be tolerated. The board has an edit button enabled. We encourage you to use it and edit your own words. Moderators and Administrators will be visibly proactive in dealing with potentially offensive situations. Posts of a violent or threatening nature, either implicitly or explicitly, will be deleted, and the poster's membership revoked. We encourage personal problems with other members be resolved privately via email or personal messaging.
  5. No trolling. Trolling consists of provoking large volumes of responses by posting absurdities, deliberately offensive insults, etc.
  6. No spamming. Don't flood the board with commercial posts, irrelevant or otherwise useless material.
  7. No solicitation or advertising of any kind. Our message boards are for discussions, not to sell goods or services. If you would like to advertise, please contact us for an advertising package.
  8. Use descriptive subject lines. This makes it easier for people to see what your post is about. Do not use another member's screen names in topic titles.
  9. Respect the privacy of others. Do not post phone numbers, home addresses, pictures, etc., without permission. Private conversations on our forum should not be posted publicly without the consent of the the other party.
  10. Each person may only have one account. People using multiple accounts may be banned.
  11. No cross posting. Do not post the same message to more than one forum.
Note: We reserve the right to remove any posts without notice to the author or those who have replied. We reserve the right to suspend the posting privileges of any registered member without notice.

If that person no longer desires to follow the BaptistBoard rules, the correct response would be for that person to remove themselves from the BaptistBoard.

We moderate content. This has nothing to do with the gender a member claims to be.

I get that arguments can get heated. And I believe we should allow a certain amount of heat in the kitchen. But there has to be limits as this is a Christian board.

I was glad to see you back, @Scarlett O. We need the moderation and you are level headed and reasonable (I am often not).

I would just ignore the comment not to ban men as there are always odd opinions out there. I seriously doubt I could get out of a ticket by using that one on a female police officer.

I am a member of a Christian organization that evangelizes in public places. Only men can be members. We meet and among other things, bitterly squabble about politics, doctrinal issues, and about anything else you can think of. We still love each other. We still go out and evangelizes and win souls together. Men can argue quite heatedly and not take it personal.

I Tim 2:12 says what it says. Do we let culture define our theology or do we let Scripture define it?
V13 makes it plain that this is a continual command. It was not a command for a single moment in time.

(1) In this forum, both men and women participate with equal status. A participant has a choice whether they want to reveal their gender or not.

(2) This isn't a men's locker room. These "squabbles" that you mention would would not happen in a variety of different settings.

(3) The close relationship we share here on the BaptistBoard is an illusion; most of us have never seen each other or heard each other.
Subtile comments, heated conversations, sarcasm, and personal insults take on a whole different meaning in the absence of the ability to see each other.

(4) If you don't want a woman to moderate you, insure that you do not need to be moderated.

Stop being stupid, you ignorant....:Biggrin (kidding)

I get your point. I'm retired military and we didn't always (read "rarely") miss an opportunity for a good insult. But we were like brothers.

That said, I do not see that type of comradery on an online forum. It's different face to face, when you know one another.

I Tim says what it plainly says. You just wrote multiple paragraphs to justify your not being willing to follow the plain commands of Scripture.
Is ITin 2:12 hard to understand? Hard to comprehend that Verse 13 makes it plain that it was not a cultural command, but a command based on the nature of the genders?

We don't "know" each other except for the BB. And that's not truly knowing as in real life.

These are his beliefs. I've known that and I don't sweat it. He was not the one who approached me about it.
I have, based on some of the things you have said in the past, sort of thought that maybe you are a little sensitive about being a woman. I had no idea of the attitudes of some of the folks on here and I sincerely apologize.

When I was still working I was in a hospital so having a woman supervisor is nothing to me and it has never occurred to me to try to apply 1 Timothy 2:12 to something outside a church service anyway. As a matter of fact, I don't even think it means what some of these guys think it means in church, but that's just me.

A full and proper discussion of such attitudes would require that the moderators disappear for a while so that's all I will say, except that an attitude that a female moderator is somehow a violation of Paul's teaching in 1 Timothy 2:12 may be the dumbest thing I have ever seen on this site.

Serious question: 1 Tim 2 also forbids women from "broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array"-- how exactly would you enforce that? Badgering any women in the street wearing earrings?
I T 2 is not pertaining to women on the street.

I T 2 is not pertaining to women on the street.
EVERYWHERE is the context, in the passage. (v. 8 Paul wants men to pray "in every place"). Godly women in modest apparel (v. 9) performing good works (v. 10) is not a just-in-church thing.

v. 12, Young's Literal Translation, she is not to rule her husband. Marital relationship is the context. Two are to be one flesh. Thus the reference to Adam and Eve that follows immediately.

Well, I’m glad you are here, as are many others. I appreciate your insight into scripture and your perspectives.

I like to tell folks they are welcome to their beliefs, but their beliefs don’t necessarily affect me at all.

Don’t ever feel humiliated by the ignorance of others. The BB is not a church

peace to you
