No More Continual Filling of the Spirit For You Are Filled

We are not leaky vessels that we need a continual filling of the Holy Spirit for we have been bought with a price and sealed as His.

1 Corinthians 6: 19What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

The power of God is that we are a new creature in Christ by His blood.

2 Corinthians 5: 17Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 18And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;

Galatians 6: 14But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world. 15For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature. 16And as many as walk according to this rule, peace be on them, and mercy, and upon the Israel of God.

Matthew 9: 17Neither do men put new wine into old bottles: else the bottles break, and the wine runneth out, and the bottles perish: but they put new wine into new bottles, and both are preserved.

All believers are a new creature in Christ, so then we are able to hold the new wine and thus, the Holy Spirit doesn't leave when believers sin or commit a trespass, but we should take heed in how we build on that reconciled relationship with Christ.

1 Corinthians 3:10According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon. 11For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; 13Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. 14If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. 15If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire. 16Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? 17If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.

That is why this was written below. One can grieve the Holy Spirit by sowing to the flesh or engage in labouring in unbelief since we are to be witnesses of Jesus Christ, the Good News to man.

Ephesians 4: 29Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. 30And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. 31Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: 32And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.

So when opposing the works of the flesh, such as drunkenness, we are instructed to remain presently filled with the Spirit which the fruit of temperance is self-control. If a believer got drunk foolishly, the Holy Spirit is still in him, but the works of the flesh has countered the fruit of the Spirit until he becomes sober again, and the fruit of the Spirit is no longer countered by the works of the flesh, but the believer should be warned in sowing to the flesh or else he will reap corruption and judgment.

Galatians 5:19Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. 22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. 24And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

Romans 13:12The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. 13Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. 14But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

Thus the exhortation here above & below is in referring to opposing a work of the flesh, not a practise that a believer needs to continually fill themselves up with the Spirit for we are filled, because God has done it. We are saved.

Ephesians 5:17Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. 18And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; 19Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;

That is why when we came to Jesus and believed in Him, we are filled so that we may not hunger nor thirst anymore as promised. May the words of our mouths and the meditation of our hearts be acceptable in His sight to declare that faith in Him.

John 6:35And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.

Colossians 2: 5For though I be absent in the flesh, yet am I with you in the spirit, joying and beholding your order, and the stedfastness of your faith in Christ. 6As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: 7Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving. 8Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. 9For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. 10And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:

So let us hold fast our profession of faith against seeking a filling of the Spirit when we are filled. The good fight is keeping the faith.

2 Corinthians 11:1Would to God ye could bear with me a little in my folly: and indeed bear with me. 2For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ. 3But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. 4For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him. :BangHead:

So how can any believer endorse a continual filling and yet be able to maintain the instructions to guard against preaching another spirit to receive? It is hypocrsiey to do so, so there is no continual filling for we are filled as promised so that we may be witnesses of Jesus Christ in having been saved by Him, not going through the process of being saved... or else the Good News cannot be known and neither can we be witnesses of Him if salvation has not even happened yet.

Hebrews 4: 1Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it. 2For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it. 3For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.... 9There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. 10For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. :sleeping_2:11Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief. :BangHead:

Colossians 1: 20And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven. 21And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled 22In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight: 23If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister;

So ask yourself this question: Do I serve the Lord Jesus Christ in being a witness of Him in seeking His glory or am I serving something else in His name seeking that glory instead?

May God cause the increase so that believers may enter into that rest in being witnesses of Him as having been filled, and sealed as His to be preserved as His so we can rest in Jesus Christ as saved.

Matthew 11: 28Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

John 6:28Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? 29Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.

Galatians 3:14That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. ... 26For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

Hebrews 11: 1Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen... 6But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Ephesians 1:12That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. 13In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, 14Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory. 15Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints, :1_grouphug:

May the Lord help us to be witnesses of the Good News and not a process as if we are stuck reliving Pentecost over and over again like the movie "Groundhog Day".

The verse infers the possibility that the believer may be "devoured" or defeated by Satan, something that cannot happen to one who is filled with the Holy Spirit. Such admonitions would never have to be given if all believers were filled with the Holy Spirit.

That is how you apply that verse, but you forget the reference to the thief breaking through. Jesus warned believers not to suffer a thief to break through. Most will see that verse as referring to watching for His return, but by His grace, I see that by those that seeking another spirit to receive like those that preach another baptism of the Holy Spirit that comes with evidence of tongues. The thief comes and goes, pretty much the way the world receives other spirits in how they see it. John 14:17 Those being slain in the "Spirit" are not heeding Jesus words and thus great is the "fall" of that house. :tonofbricks:

It has been prophesied that many shall depart from the faith in giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils. 2 Timothy 4:1-2

The falling away of the faith in 2 Thessalonians 2nd chapter would have those that believe not the love of the truth that God would permit a strong delusion for them to believe that lie in signs and lying wonders: example: another baptism of the Holy Spirit that comes with evidence of tongues: and though damnation is mentioned here, remember that being left behind at the rapture event is losing out of that first inheritance. You read into the next chapter of 2 Thessalonians 3, we see they expound on those wicked and unreasonable men for not all men have faith, but yet.. in addressing those that walketh disorderly, and not after the traditions taught of us, we see that we are to withdraw from them to admonish them as brothers, not as treating them as enemies.

So as the temple of God is being defiled.. as our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit.... the Holy Spirit is still in us as the thief cannot stay, but have to move on... for that is what a thief does.

And as sowing to the flesh that reaps corruption, so does receiving the spirit of error as they depart from faith in taking their eyes off of Jesus to the "spirit" in relating to God the Father.

All I know that in spite of the event of the waywardness, the disorderly faithless brother is still... His, but what better description of a vessel unto dishonour in God's house than that?

And yet if he or she by the grace of God... heed His words, put away vain babbling... narrow the way back to the straight gate: :jesus: then they are purging themselves of the old leaven and trusting their Good Shepherd to help them to be witnesses of Him once more and with not of any detour.

Those wayward do not need to be saved again. So in that, they are filled with the Spirit, but presently reprobate as they have departed from faith in suffering a thief to break through.

I still maintain that there is no more continual filling of the Holy Spirit, otherwise, it is the same rudiment in seeking another spirit to receive as it is in seeking to be filled in that it is causing many to go astray to suffer a thief to break through... again.:tonofbricks:

Keep our eyes on Jesus is a catch phrase that should be done more than just saying it as Our Bridegroom will be appearing soon.
