Before leaving for New York for a series of fundraisers, President Obama held a press conference at the White House to discuss his lack of strategy on Syria.
Obama told reporters that his strategy was still developing, and that he would continue to consult with congress and the American people about any action in Syria.

“I don't want to put the cart before the horse,” he said. “We don't have a strategy yet.”

Don't do this often and I'll have to correct some language, but I have a message from my old CO, a Captain of Marines at the time. He's older now, as we all are, but he still has a warriors heart. A diplomat, he is not. A leader of men, he is.

Regarding ISIS or, if you prefer, ISIL in Iraq.
Yes, they are a different breed of terrorist than we are used to fighting. Yes, they are well funded. Yes, they have some heavy weapons abandoned by gutless Iraqi soldiers. Yes, their ranks are growing daily.
BUT.....
They are NOT some sort of super soldiers. They pull their pants up in the morning just like everyone else. They die when their shot, just like everyone else.
They are over extended and that makes them vulnerable.
They have no air power--fixed wing or helicopters.
I, for one am sick and tired of our gut-less President acting like we are not capable of wiping out those awful individuals.
No, it will not be easy but for once can we put politics aside, put on our big boy clothes and squash those cruel b*****ds like the cockroaches they are--showing no mercy?
We should respect their ability to wage war but we should not be afraid of them. Our President is an embarrassment to all freedom loving Americans.
The head of the snake known as ISIS--ISIL needs to be cut off NOW and its body ground into the dirt before its cancer metastasizes, infesting the rest of the Middle East, Europe and our Homeland.
Ambivalence and cowardice are the two major character traits of our hapless President. What a pathetic excuse for a man he is.

A Commander-in-Chief should always have a strategy. If he didn't see this coming, he's an idiot or worse.

Until we figure out that the only way to beat these people is to wipe them off the face of the earth we certainly have a losing strategy.

These groups are built on generational hatred, anti-intellectualism, and use Islam as a justification for their actions even though most followers are marginal Muslims.

The only way to beat these people is to annihilate them. It isn't the job of the Church, but it is the necessary action of the state. One of the challenges of our society, globally, is trying understand oppression and fascism. There is nothing to understand. Once it is identified it must be destroyed. It must be ended.

It is a shame that we have to go back in there while the Arabs refuse to confront their own problems. I am not so sure that I care what happens in Iraq except that some of those people are our friends. The Fund-Raiser-in-Chief is working on a strategy behind the scenes as he tries to help the Democrat Party the next couple of days.

We got the best enemy our tax dollars would buy. The best allies too! Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Turkey. When we aren't funding and arming our enemies directly our allies are doing it behind the scenes for us.

A backdoor to war into Syria?

Ironically, the explosive rise of IS across a wide swath of Iraq and Syria is handing the Obama administration an opportunity for doing what it could not do one year earlier: Open a military offensive in Syria. Following the reports of decapitated Christian babies, and the beheading of the American James Foley, it will be harder for critics like Ted Cruz to question a military operation against IS – even in Syria.

In fact, the US media seems to be priming the American public for yet another Syrian showdown: “The Pentagon began preparing options for an assault on Islamic State fighters after the militants last week posted a gruesome video showing the beheading of American photojournalist James Foley. Deliberations by Obama’s national security team on expanding the campaign against Islamic State from Iraq into neighboring Syria gathered pace in recent days,” Reuters reported on Thursday, quoting unnamed officials.

“From unmanned armed drones to powerful Stealth bombers, a wide range of U.S. airpower is at Obama’s disposal, including possible missiles fired from warships at sea or from aircraft flying outside Syria's borders.”

The obvious question is: Will a US military attack on IS positions in northern Syria eventually snowball into a full-blown war with Syria? President Assad has already warned that any foreign military actions on the territory of his country will be considered an act of war.

And that may be exactly what the hawks in Washington want to hear.
