Why would a rule of biblical interpretation be written in a book of the Bible?

If you've never heard of this rule then one can only wonder how you study the Bible...

The simple rule is to remember which type of literature you are dealing with in each book of the Bible and study it accordingly. You KNOW that for a fact and just wish to cause strife...or else you are the type of person who believes Song of Solomon is a "type of Christ/and the Church".

Well I'm glad you told me about this simple rule man. There I was being the type that believes I was God's beloved. Silly me. Who's it about then?

What was the simple rule again? That you can believe what you like?

That is a lovely bit of a lovely love letter written by a besotted God to His besotted Bride to Be.

The simple rule is to study each book of the Bible accordingly. Do you study the book of Leviticus as if you must follow those laws today? Why or why not?

Does God have wings? Psalms says so, no? But wait...Psalms is a poetic book.

Song of Solomon? Nothing more than a book about the love between a woman and a man. Unless you think Jesus has teeth like a goat?

"...that you can believe what you like?" Once more with the false accusations eh "brother"? I guess I can believe what I like...I believe you are a crotchety old man sitting there thinking you are funny...having a laugh while yer false teeth fall on the floor. That is what I believe.

He makes me laugh sometimes but I had to say something. He accused me of believing what I like. He gets away with many false accusations on here so I figure I'm allowed to as well. [IMG]

    Hello KJ.
    Very helpful.
    Accordingly.
    Don't know has He?
Does it? Chapter and verse you know how prickly I am.
Is it ain't read it much.
Ecclesiastes : Song of Solomon : Isaiah
And what did Solomon know about the love between a man and woman he had a thousand wives.
I do and I believe I am a rose of Sharon, a lily of the valleys.
And that I am like a lily among thorns is my darling among the maidens.
Accordingly to the Song of Songs 2:1-2.
When it comes down to it we all believe what we want don't we or are you saying we must believe things against our will?
My son called me a miserable old mackeral the other day and I stop him and said you don't mean that do you? After a quick think he said no not miserable! I made him run me teeth under the tap to get the crud off.
What was that about the pot calling the baccy black?

I am by the way working on 1TI 4:9 This is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance 10 (and for this we labor and strive), that we have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, and especially of those who believe.

And will give you an answer as soon as I get one. It is a good one so if anyone else knows the answer it will save me the trouble.

The things of the spirit realm are not understood by those who are not receptive to them. However, words on paper when read do become food for the spirit, food that may not be understood at the time they are taken into the mind, but which by thorough digestion nourish the spirit and cause it grow closer to the source of the words. Eventually the spirit is convinced and accepts unto belief in whom those words are about. It is then that human spirit opens up completely to the Holy Spirit and the person's regeneration has taken place. All through this time the Holy
Spirit is illuminating the word in the mind of the man.

Faith without works is dead. Where are you going with a dead faith?

</font>[/QUOTE]You are confused beyond hope Bob K. John 6:29 speaks nothing of faith without works. Jesus is telling his listeners that His father has already done the work, and that we are to believe in the one whom He sent...His only begotten son. The work has alread been finished by the Father, there are no works at all that man can do. John 6:29 makes that quite clear to those who have the spirit in them.

Don't have the answer but I do have some thoughts.
    </font>
    • Somehow God is the Savior of the unsaved. That is a tricky one. Maybe it is Paul's way of saying that Christ's atonement is sufficient for all - that God is potentially the Savior of all.</font>
    • The way God relates to those who believe is different than how He relates to those who do not believe. The typical Arminian understanding is that whatever God is for one He must be for all. To be otherwise would make Him a "respecter of persons", they say. This passage is troublesome for those who hold to that notion.</font>

Think about it, Only one with a CLOSED MIND such as yourself would even consider making such a statement.

    Hello whatever.

Thanks man that is a good start.

and especially of those who believe

He is a respecter of persons.

Somehow God is the Savior of the unsaved.

Brilliant. Getting really muddy now. Cause Saviour must still mean Saviour.

    Any thoughts KJ?

So, why do you quote from versions that you said is not worth the paper that it was written on?

Do you not quote from other sources? Perhaps even sources that you don't agree with?
