I hadn't heard of this school before the recent threads on proposed candidates for SBC president.

I may be getting an all expenses paid trip to the Middle East in the near future, and have had thoughts about continuing my education. I mean, if the opportunity to use Federal Tuition Assistance avails itself, surely it would be a better use of my off time then laying around watching movies, right? I feel that the Lord is tugging me in this direction.

With the 36 hours from my MTS, I reckon in a year I could almost wrap up their MDiv.

Why not just move onto a DMin? I am on my second semester at Amridge (I know Church of Christ) but they allow you to enter the 51 hour DMin w/o a MDiv. They program will take you about 3 years which is the same about of time as most 36 hour DMins. Also, if you plan on doing a Doctorate later in life then why spend the time working towards a MDiv when you can just put that effort towards the Doctorate degree.

That is interesting, but I'm looking at something I could feasibly do in a little over a year, so as not to accrue debt.

And LGU being affiliated with the SBC is a selling point, to me.

I understand, I have no love for the SBC (Way to go Russell Moore!)

I don't know, trying to tune in on what I'm supposed to do, not what I want to do.

I was happy with formal education being something in my past. Thought about other ways to pass the time. I never claimed to be a Boy Scout, but I reckon I want to "be prepared," as the motto goes.

I hope if pastoral ministry is your calling, you rethink your "supposed to do not what I want to do" bit. Read 1 Tim. 3:1.

Emailed with them, and their rate of $390.00 per credit hour seems non-negotiable.

But I did investigate schools in North Carolina, which I can use state tuition assistance for now. SEBTS discounts to $276.00 per credit hour, which would leave me only paying 78 bucks per class plus books. Plus I could start now instead of waiting.

Hello all:

I just thought I would stop by and "check my mail." Little did I know that my good friend, Dr. Nathan Finn, was going to North Greenville?! He is a great guy personally, preacher, lecturer, and Class A church history scholar.

It has been my privilege to be on the program with him, present papers with him at conferences, work for him adjunctly at Union University (even now), and publish for him. I hate to see him leave Uniou University, But we all must be like my favorite contemporary philosopher Dirty Harry remarked-"A man's gotta know his own limitations." I would add Biblically; to know his calling and gifting!!

Reading the entire story, it turns out that the whistleblower was a part owner of the firm hired by the university to recruit, and that he himself profits to the tune of $375k from this. Probably gets more than any of the violating recruiters or even the recruiting firm ever got. Something seems rotten in Greenville and the courts.
