In my area of the world there used to be a RC Monastery where it was very contemplative. These monks were very into work & prayer…and they added to my life very much.
FASINATING life style and it influenced me. Unfortunately the RCC viewed that property as a moneymaker… sold it off and now they are building housing and condos on it.
OK the point is that contemplative prayer adds to spiritual….so here is an attachment on mystical Cosmic Christ stuff that I haven’t really unpacked…. So my question is does it factor into modern Christianity today?

Yes ... but not like that. To contemplate the Universe as "oneness" [a unity between creation and creator] is to look inward to physical reality. It is ultimately "And they began to think up foolish ideas of what God was like. As a result, their minds became dark and confused." - Romans 1:21 [NLT] just repackaged for a new generation. God is first and foremost "other" ... not us ... METAphysical. God (Jesus Christ, God the Son) is found in God more than in creation. Creation tells ABOUT God, but only the "God" is actually knowing God.
Those encounters may or may not be "daily" (a question above my pay grade), but an encounter with THE GOD is transformative (more than contemplative).

Hmm, I generally focus on Jesus as a universal Christ, very awoke and transformed from within. He had to have been groomed.
Scriptures do not have any explanation for Jesus life from age 12 years to 30 years old… what happened during that time? Where was He for 18 years I wonder? What do you think?
I strongly believe in building bridges not walls. I’m attempting to dare to build Christianity in my own little world in NW Jersey which has become a secular desert. ️ All my life I engineered & built stuff and I want to transform this place intro a solid Christian oasis… that’s my goal ( to plant scriptural churches ). Kinda radical for a man of my age don't ya think?!?

My people originated in Greece and moved to Constantinople for trade and were then pushed out by the ottomans, moving to Italy and marrying the Latin people forming businesses and trade. They left Italy to escape the fascists, moving to the USA and immediately building businesses for the coal miner industry’s in Pennsylvania. Europe wasn’t an option because the entire continent was in an economic & political flux… they tried France but no, they did not satisfy but the USA provide a new home and opportunity to supply food, groceries and day to day products required. My grand uncle Pasquale had his fingers in every pie…rental property, groceries, shops, etc. I loved that guy cause he was a true business man and as a business man he joined the Masons… and when the RCC found this out they excommunicated him … and he laughed at them. He flipped the money changers tables in the temple so to speak kinda like when Jesus walked right into Jerusalem high temple, that wasn’t righteous anger, that was God physically attacking their economic order… and that’s suicidal.
Anyway that’s what religion is . Think about it, power systems whether religious political or cultural always follow the same playbook…they take complex, revolutionary figures and sand them down into safe, simple myths they erase & they strip away the dangerous parts…the learning, the struggle, the defiance, and leave us little people with plaster saints we can admire, but never imitate. Why because if you saw the real process, if you saw how much work, study, effort it takes to become free you of course just might start doing it yourself. People need to recognize that there is a template designed to keep you in your own little inconsequential world waiting passively for inspiration instead of building yourself into something powerful but here’s the secret. People can become builders of our own understanding, architects of our own freedom and that means three things (1) learn the edits and the omissions in the stories you’re told whether in scripture, politics or the ever manipulative media … ask what’s missing & who benefits from this version (2) refuse tribalism, don’t limit yourself to one book one culture one ideology. Seek wisdom everywhere from science and philosophy from east and west from mystic and skeptics alike…(3) Build bridges not walls. Reconstruct. Learn to transform yourself…replace automatic beliefs with conscious understanding, break the chains of fear, guilt, and blind obedience … build your own sovereignty from the inside out. I am convinced that the real legacy of Jesus, is not to believe in me and be saved, but it’s, “I’ve shown you the path to God and fulfillment, now build on it”. look at the world around you…it’s currently built on polarization disinformation inequality and despair. These are the cracks of a civilization built on faulty foundations, and who can rebuild it ? Surely not passive followers, not obedient believers, but committed people willing to do the hard dangerous exhilarating work of thinking for themselves and constructing a new Christ world. The question is no longer, what should you believe? The question is what will you dare to learn from Christs examples of love, of non- violence, of doing to others as you would have them do unto you etc.
And of course this is the path leading to Christs return. Be the Builders, The Architects, the Designers of the word that will invite Gods return.
I’m working to plant churches, disciple, mentor etc. that’s my small commitment. What’s yours?

David speaking by the life of Christ in him and the Holy Spirit in him said in Psalms 122:1, "I was glad when they said unto me let us go into the house of the Lord."
Christ building that particular house said in Matt 16:18, "Upon this rock I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
With Christ being anointed with the Holy Spirit he promised his people that Spirit for their edification in John 14:26, 15:26, 16:7)
The promise of the Holy Spirit being give to the church is exemplified in Ephesians 3:10 where it is said,"...that it might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God."
Jeremiah 32:37-42 and Jeremiah 33:11 show the results of the New Covenant to gather his people TOGETHER in the context of the literal, local, visible assembly, his kingdom, where they might be made of one mind and one accord in the likeness of Christ.
God never leaves his people on their own to wander around on their own, so the idea of staying at home and reading ones bible without any association with a body of Christ is foreign to scripture. Christ even prayed for the unity of his people in John 17:21-26. How can this be accomplished by not assembling with the saints? In its true sense, individuality wars against the kingdom of God.
It is true there certainly are churches where the sheep are not being fed and the pastor will be held accountable. The Lord has not left his people without power in that if there are unscriptural doctrines being taught, the same people that set the pastor in that position can also set him down.
It is true there may also be trouble makers who cause divisions and they may also need to be disciplined by the body.
The old adage ,"take the cotton out of your ears and put it in your mouth" may also apply to many members who may fail to examine themselves instead of others.
With an estimated 30,000 denominations, your work is set before you. Let it first begin among a Baptist people. To not go to church is not an option.

Lest I forget one of the most important points, 1 John 3:14, "We know we have passed from death unto life, BECAUSE we love the brethren." Take brethren outside the covenant bounday lines and you destroy the meaning.
But it is an option, specifically if you’re infirmed, or you can’t drive or you’re very old or there’s no church within your area. You can, however, use the Internet as a means of viewing the sermons and sometimes some of the other activities within the church.

If the individual is infirmed, the church of which they are a member should minister to them. That might include watching from home if the church has an internet broadcast. It should never be a substitute for anyone able bodied. Being a functional member of a body of Christ should be viewed as an honor. Being able to vote on church issues, participating in observing the Lord's Supper and baptism service are examples. Many don't see the power of just showing up and its influence on that body. We provided tapes of the sermons to one of our members who was no longer able to drive. Two of our members drove and hour both ways twice each Sunday so one on our members and his wife could attend until they passed. Christ said I will never leave you nor forsake you. That is a command sometime achieved by the members of that body by the spirit of Christ within them.
One of our associated churches has two member who drive 3 hours both ways each Sunday. Depends on what you consider within your area.

Please consider this, that every church is different, some in minor degrees. If you cannot find another body of Christ among to Primitives that is like what you are looking for, why not got to one and listen then tell them what you believe. It may be the Lord would use you as a witness to influence them. God did not create his people to dwell alone. He has promised he would be our God, we would be his people and he would dwell in the midst of us.
Again there is no Primitive Baptist in my geographical location…Im in a void area ((the NorthEast) where no PB churches are located. And I am in-firmed, because of my legs not having feeling I can no longer drive a car least I have an accident. Do you understand now. Even something local is dangerous to drive.

I did not see anything about your physical limitations when I scanned the thread. If you previously listed it, I apologize. Have yooiu not considered an independent sovereign grace Baptist church that could minister to you?
There is none. Not here anyway. Now unless someone plants something in my community…there is a Lutheran church a few blocks away but they are works based and sacramental based. Not what I’m looking for.

Thanks for the information. Being in the south, I was not aware that there was such desolate areas. We would offer to send you tapes of our services but you are already watching Bro Crouse (sp?). Have you contacted them and see what resources they may have to offer? Tape offer still stands.
