Obama and global warming hypocrisy

The capital flew into a bit of a tizzy when, on his first full day in the White House, President Obama was photographed in the Oval Office without his suit jacket. There was, however, a logical explanation: Mr. Obama, who hates the cold, had cranked up the thermostat.

“He’s from Hawaii, O.K.?” said Mr. Obama’s senior adviser, David Axelrod, who occupies the small but strategically located office next door to his boss. “He likes it warm. You could grow orchids in there.”

What can I say?

After all he does have to protect that "hard at work - shirtsleeves" image that he has cultivated.

I find it especially ironic that Obama is turning up the heat so high in his office while at the same time wanting money to winterize 2,000,000 homes.

Why doesn't he just tell them to turn up the heat?

Ridiculous statement. Where do you keep your thermostat. Mine is always at or below 68 and 65 at night. How about you?

I see no reason he should have to wear a jacket if he doesn't want too, it's rediclous to think he HAS too. Now meeting foreign leaders, interviews, announcements/speeches, offical stuff, yes, but just at his desk doing whatever he does, unless theres some law that requires all men to wear a jacket.
i think it's nit picky.

We keep our heat at 68-70 in the day, and 62-65 at night, depending on how cold it is. But we like it chilly.

I will continue to say that when the global warming alarmists/environmentalists stop driving cars and using AC and become vegetarians, I might consider their points.

Since I'm vegetarian, I'm doing more for the earth than most of the liberals who are not. That is not why I'm vegetarian but nevertheless, I am.

He's from Chicago! He should be comfortable with the cold weather as well as political corruption.

We have an automatic thermostat.

68 for two hours in the morning and 68 for four hours in the evening.

The rest of the time it is 60.

The point is that I do not make it my professional business to go around telling others that they have to do certain things or make certain sacrifices for the sake of "saving the planet" from "man-made global warming" while failing to do the same.

A great big "Who Cares?" on this one. Is the president not allowed to take his jacket off. I could care less if he was wearing a Magnum shirt and flip flops. Its his office. Its also his home right?

But Marcia, how exactly is being a vegetarian "helping the earth" more than us meat eaters? I mean if you don't want to eat meat I don't care. But don't tell me I am somehow hurting the earth.

Its like that stupid organic food deal. The elite rich of America want to eat "organic" food and so farmers stop using pesticides and fertilizers on their fields. The food, which is no better for you costs more because the yield of the land is less. The bottom line is we are limiting the production of are farms. Which would be fine if everyone on earth had enough to eat, but to limit our farm production to satisfy the eco-snobs while people in other countries starve is to me the ultimate in elitist snobbery. To me it is the equivalent of the kings of old feeding scraps to their dogs while beggars starve at their door. That is why I refuse to buy anything labeled organic.

OK, I am off the soap box, sorry to derail. My mind must not be hitting on all cylinders this morning. I think I need more coffee.

You miss the point.

It is not about whether or not he wears a jacket.

It is about Obama kicking up the thermostat to orchid hot house temperatures while at the same time wanting to spend our money to combat "man-made global warming".

It is about HYPOCRISY.

Now this is one statement that I can concur with 100%!!!

And based on many responses on this board, I find it hard to tell if it's ignorance, apathy, PCism or a ritual of worship!:BangHead::tear:
