ISLAMABAD, Pakistan - Ten people were killed Friday evening in the first of two U.S. missile strikes in Pakistan's tribal region, said one government and two military officials. They are the first strikes since President Barack Obama took office on Tuesday.
Both hits were near the Afghan border, said local political official Nasim Dawar. The Pakistani military sources asked not to be named because they are not authorized to release such information.
The first strike occurred about 5:15 p.m. (7:15 a.m. ET) in a village near Mir Ali in North Waziristan, and the second took place at 7:30 p.m. (9:30 a.m. ET) near Wana, the major town in South Waziristan, 17 miles (27 km) from Afghanistan....

I approve of going after al Qaeda in any country we find them if the government of that country won't do it. I believe in defending this country from al Qaeda - the organization that attacked us on 9/11/2001.

You dont think al Qaeda is in Iraq?

Al Qaeda was not in Iraq before former President Bush foolishly invaded Iraq.

Hasn't al Qaeda pretty much been removed from Iraq after former President Bush foolishly set up the situation where they could enter Iraq?

Yep, me too...

Sadly though, we will have to attack PA if Murtha gets his way...

Off topic

Doubtful, but again not an answer to the question. I believe you were pretty firm about the US withdrawing from Iraq. Now you say we should pursue Al Qaeda wherever they are. Does that include Iraq? Are you now in favor of staying in Iraq?

I wonder how many critics of wartime events have ever been to war? I felt sorry for North Korean women and children until North Korean women and children killed a number of soldiers trying to help them.

I felt sorry for them until they carried bombs into our hospital tents and killed nurses and doctors running to their aid.

I felt sorry for them until they hid soldiers in their villages waiting their opportunity to kill us.

War is hell, and there are no innocents in war.

Cheers,

Jim

No. We are not in Pakistan. If we need to launch air strikes or missile strikes against al Qaeda positions in Iraq(if there are any) like we have against such positions in Pakistan I would support it.

Wow. Jim, I think I may have been wrong about you. I don't think you're a Socialist at all. You just think you are.

So you are in favor of air strikes or missle strikes where there is a good possibility of killing civilians?

Now Curtis, be real! You know that the U.S. government would not sit by and allow any group to attack Israel (if they had a border in common with us). Just like if any group of people decided to lob some homemade missiles into Canada. As soon as the U.S. authorities found out about it they would arrest those responsible.

I would think you, or any other conservative, should be happy that the president is actually attacking the ones responsible for the 9/11 attacks. I hope this reluctance to "back the troops" isn't simply because President Obama won the election!

We were never interested in catching him. This was a nation building exercise from the start. All of the 9/11 hijackers were from Saudi Arabia. Our mission turned into our troops patrolling the streets of two different countries.

If Obama wants to bomb Pakistan, we should declare war on them, thru the congress, like the constitution tells us we have to.

It seems we learned NOTHING from Bush's mistakes.

So Bill O'Reilly was right when he said it is impossible to support the troops, but not their mission ?

Edited to add.....it is good to see you engage in debate, instead of hurling off topic one liners.

Sounds like a familiar pattern to me.
