In 2008, he said: "I believe marriage is between a man and a woman. I am not in favor of gay marriage." I don't "recall" Brian Williams doing the interview though.

That is a good example of his coy answers, "I was for it, before I was against it" typical political answer. High profile politicians are masters at this type of thing.
