Let's see what my choices are:

* Choose to make a great living through my life and forgo having children.

* Choose to make a great living through my lie and have children, putting them in daycare from 6 weeks old and only seeing them for evenings and weekends.

* Choose to give up a great living to raise my own heritage from the Lord, living out the gospel daily for them and raising them in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. When they are of an age that it is appropriate for them to leave the home for schooling, they will leave and I will then begin to look for a job that will help make ends meet. Oh - and during this time, my husband encourages me in staying home because while a few extra dollars might be nice to be able to get that nicer car or to get the new carpeting we'd like, he has said that knowing that the home and children are cared for by me makes him know that our home is a haven and a place of safety in a world gone mad.

Hmm - I wonder which would be the best choice for me?

Sounds like you are blessed. Realize that others do not have that option.

The speech was referencing workplace equality but I'm sure you knew that didn't you? My wife is a registered nurse and mother of two. You have a problem with that?

What Obama said was we do not want women to make the choice to stay home with their children.

Do you have a problem with stay at home mothers?

If you honestly see those as your only choices, then by all means you must choose the third one.

Do you have a problem with stay at home mothers?

That is the very definition of a strawman. Of course I don't have a problem with stay at home mothers and I said nothing that came even close to that but answer my question? Do you have a problem with my wife working?

It was a strawman. It was made to point out that you created one.

Third attempt to dodge my question when I humored you on yours. I really don't expect an answer because you have trapped yourself nicely here. I'm sure this post of yours is out of genuine concern for the upbringing of children everywhere. How noble.

Bub I have not trapped myself, I never said anything that would suggest I have any kind of a problem with your wife in any way. I don't know her neither Have I mentioned your wife. You have created the worst kind of strawman I have ever seen on this board. I do not care what your wife does one way or the other. What she does has nothing to do with me.

What is embarrassing for you is you missed the point of the op. Obama said he does not want women to choose to stay home. I have pointed that out to you already and you have dodged that. Maybe you need to walk away from this thread as it appears it has raised a very high level of emotion for you.

Be advised. This is the last inane post from you I will respond too.

I'm afraid you missed the point. This has nothing to do with stay at home moms, it has to do with workplace equality. Working moms have a stigma in the workplace at times when they have to leave to take care of their children while the men do not. They can and have been left behind at times when up for a promotion, things of that nature. Obama's comments are an effort to protect working moms not some nefarious plot for all moms everywhere to abandon their children to daycares. Just read your thread title and how ridiculous it sounds.

But you can do your usual backpeddling and running when you aren't able to even prop up your own thread.

When I saw the video I was absolutely incensed at the audacity of the President. How dare he say women should not choose to stay home with their children. Of course as a total Liberal he would want children in government indoctrination programs as early as possible. Its funny how the Left says they are "Pro-Choice" Unless of course it is choices they disagree with then they do everything they can to take away that choice. I realize that this is about pay equality (which is just a feminist myth) but he still reviled his disdain for families and especially mothers with his statement here.

Feminist myth? I don't think so. The statement and the action is an attempt to take care of the working mom that doesn't have a choice to stay at home. How that is disdain for families and mothers is beyond me. I love how those privileged enough to stay at home get to be so judgmental of other people that may not have been dealt the same hand as them. More Christian compassion at work.

Yes it is a Feminist Myth and it has been debunked multiple times. My mom had to work because she was a single mom but she never criticized women who did not work like our President did. Again he is relieving his disdain for families and especially mothers, because as we all know there is nothing worse to liberals then conservative women.

During a speech in Rhode Island today, President Obama called for more taxpayer-spending on pre-school in order to "make sure that women are full and equal participants in our economy" and said the following:

He'll say anything to get the funding he wants. True or not. Demeaning or not. Democrats, in general, look at stay at home moms as non productive 2nd class citizens.

The goal is , as always with the federal government and education, to throw money at it. That'll fix it.

You can say no all you want but to say there isn't a gender wage gap is disingenuous. There was no disdain in that speech. You are simply being overly defensive. A statement of support of working mothers is not an attack on stay at home mothers.

Well our schools are grossly underfunded. You know that right? Our area has been hit hard with budget cuts.

I can't stand to even think about President Obama and I'm certainly not trying to defend him as a president, but some of you all need to look at his entire message.

His speech was about affordable Pre-school opportunities and how some parents cannot afford them and one of the parents, usually the mother, must quit her job because of it and be a stay-at-home-mother when that was not her initial choice.

He is not condemning stay-at-home-mothers. He is saying that no one should have to make the choice to quit their job because they cannot afford quality child care.

“In many states, sending your child to daycare costs more than sending them to a public university. True?

And too often, parents have no choice but to put their kids in cheaper daycare, that maybe doesn’t have the kinds of programming that makes a big difference in a child’s development. And then sometime their just may not be any slots or the best programs may be too far away.

Sometimes, someone, usually mom, leaves the workplace to stay home with the kids, which then leaves her earning a lower wage for the rest of her life as a result. That’s not a choice we want Americans to make.”
He is calling for quality and affordable pre-schools and daycares for parents, particularly women who CHOOSE to work outside the home or who must work outside the home.

Not every woman who works outside the home is a liberal, a sorry mother, a non-Christian, or loves her work more than her children.

And President Obama was not condemning stay-at-home-mothers.
