Obama Forcing Islam on Troops?

That source concentrated on the false claim that our troops were required to fast. No such claim was made here.

What I'm really looking for is the difference between now and last ramadan, or the one before that. Haven't had much luck.

I am bothered by the use of the word "adhere" in place of "respect". No one seems to know what that means.

I'm not sure you are going to find much difference. The article did debunk the false claim as you mentioned but it also discussed what was being told to our troops as far as guidance. I honestly doubt that it would be much different for the present Ramadan holiday. I can ask around to some of my peers that are over there and see what they say.

We weren't specifically told not to eat or drink in front of our Afghan counterparts; we were told to remember that they were in the middle of Ramadan, and not to be culturally insensitive.

So what does "adhere to certain practices" mean as stated in the written policy?

And when were you told this? Within the last month?

Can you post a link to the article you got this from or maybe post the written policy memo. I need a little more context in order to tell if things are different. Most of my google hits are giving me the July 2014 timeframe.

I'm getting the same time frame you are.

I did find one source from this year that a general instructed those in his command not to eat or drink away from their installation. But that may be just his interpretation of the rules.

That being said, it seems we bend over backward more to keep muslims happy than any other religion. It seems no other religion is that demanding.
