Thank you for writing to the British Embassy but I don't know anyone over here who is angry about it apart from Brown and his immediate hangers-on; most people dislike Brown heartily and are if anything mildly amused by him being put in his place like this.
North Carolina Tentmaker said:I don't think there was anything intentional in this on Obama's part. Its just part of the learning curve of a new administration. It is not the right here in America that is making a big deal out of it, it is the UK press (which has been a lot better at covering Obama than the US media).
This is the first part of this article.LadyEagle said:not really covered by the MSM in the US, of course...
Below is snipped. The whole story is on the link below, a history lesson which explains the significance of the Resolute.

There was no state dinner for our visiting friend. There was no joint press appearance in the Rose Garden as the usual protocol has been done by administrations going back to ??? None of that. But there have been plenty of parties at the WH with Stevie Wonder and Earth, Wind, & Fire, but the social calendar is so full that we treat the PM from England in such a shabby manner? Give us a break!!
So, if you, too are embarrassed and upset at the shabby way Prime Minister Gordon Brown was treated by the Pres. Obama and would like to apologize Obama's ignorant and ill-mannered insulting treatment of our longest and closest ally, you can write to the British Embassy here:
Sir Nigel Sheinwald, Ambassador
British Embassy in Washington DC
3100 Massachusetts Ave NW
Washington, DC 20008
I am getting my letter to them in the mail this week. And I am also emailing everyone in my address book. Feel free to copy this and paste it in your address book, also. Let's let our friends in the UK that this was unacceptable treatment and the sitting president does not represent us.

LeBuick said:LE... Play this clip... Doesn't this look like a press conference to you?

And then there was the key question: would there be a full, formal joint press conference, in the traditional location, as reporters travelling with Brown had been led to believe? There would not. The White House, it soon became clear, had never actually promised him the Rose Garden.

It was a nice try to defend your man, tho, LB.
LeBuick said:So the complaint from the right is the hair splitting difference between a "formal press briefing in the usual location" and the one Obama had? I'll have to repeat, he is doing great if this is where the right has to stoop to find fault...
