So, despite all the money spent on stimulus, the economy continues to lose jobs and unemployment remains at a staggering 10 percent. That grim news appeared to catch the Obama administration by surprise last week -- but it shouldn't have.

The number-crunchers at the Treasury Department have been celebrating what appears to be the end of the Great Recession as told through rising GDP, higher business profits and a buoyant stock market. But owners of small businesses -- the usual engines of economic growth -- are still refusing to hire back workers as they normally do when the economy turns up from a sharp decline

Talk to them, and they'll gladly tell you why: Having weathered the recession, they now fear the administration will choke off the nascent recovery and increase their costs through higher taxes to pay for the myriad of programs President Obama has in store for us, including the hyperexpensive health-care overhaul.

We have a Honda, Mercedes & Hyndai plants in Lincoln, Vance, and Montgomery, AL-------------I have read once where Honda is having some hourly cuts but no layoffs

So it isn't Obama as stated, it is the fear of what he might do.

The fear of what he HAS doe drives the fear of whats he going to do next, and whats it going to cost. so far, the cost is jobs, and small business owners know this all too well.

we have nothing, food and other goods still climbing, jobs still being lost, new jobs not happening, businesses closing.
BUT, soon it will be spring and there are business who routinely hire in spring, such as the farm supply across the road from us, they'll need people to drive and deliver. I'm sure obama will get the credit of this normal occurance though.

I've heard it said that one of the last things that happens before a government collapses or changes form is the extortion of its wealth by its leaders.

One of the surest ways of bringing about a collapse of government is to train the people not to think and ask questions ....... particularly not to question authority...... to increase their dependance on government as their provider and remove the liberties through regulations which prevent them from making an independant livelihood or protecting themselves ..........turn mole hills into mountains perceived as crisis or confuse them by so much disinformation or create cognitive dissonance or distract them from awareness and focus on real issues....... and by graduations build in them a dependance whereby they welcome the release of their rights to maintain a degree of comfort until no rights are left..... and break them with poverty, sickness, wars, and starvation so they loose the ability or will to fight back when all property is taken and will submit to control and enslavement just to survive. -----And for those who are Christians or who have an anchor of belief which strengthens their will to resist..... persecution.

I woudl say that our government finacial advisors are using disinformation and cognitive dissonance while our money is being devalued and our nation is going bankrupt. It sure can be distracting.

If one is a small business owner, they have to know they are the target of every tax increase Obama and congressional democrats can dream up. On top of that, there is a strong likelyhood they will be forced to spend thousands more on health insurance for their employees.

Why would they hire anyone else right now? It is far more likely they will fire anyone they think there is a remote chance they can do without.

People don't succeed in small business by being stupid. That only happens in politics. The Obama administration is the perfect example.

Yea Obama is living in a dream world when he thinks businesses will just soak up the new taxes and costs and take less profit and then carry on as business as usual.
