Obama Is One More Sign that America is Beyond a Mass Revival

I don't mean to say that God could not send us a "Massive spiritual revival" like the Azusa Street revival, or the Billy Graham revivals throughout the early 1900's, however, it is my opinion, and only my opinion, that America is beyond any type of MASS Revival.

I don't doubt that we will see revival taking place throughout the towns, cities, and communities of this nation, however, I honestly believe that America has demonstrated, with the projected hate towards Bush and the uncanny love and hope in Obama, that what the people of this nation really want is "radical revolution" not "rebirth and revival!"

Paul said in Romans 1:28-32 - "And so, since they did not see fit to acknowledge God or approve of Him or consider Him worth the knowing, God gave them over to a base and condemned mind to do things not proper or decent but loathsome, Until they were filled (permeated and saturated) with every kind of unrighteousness, iniquity, grasping and covetous greed, and malice. [They were] full of envy and jealousy, murder, strife, deceit and treachery, ill will and cruel ways. [They were] secret backbiters and gossipers, Slanderers, hateful to and hating God, full of insolence, arrogance, [and] boasting; inventors of new forms of evil, disobedient and undutiful to parents. [They were] without understanding, conscienceless and faithless, heartless and loveless [and] merciless. Though they are fully aware of God's righteous decree that those who do such things deserve to die, they not only do them themselves but approve and applaud others who practice them."

This section of Scripture reflects the current state-of-affairs in this country, and it surely appears that God has finally allowed America to live in the sewer of their greed, sin, corruption and unrighteous desires. I honestly believe that the majority of the people in America have gone way too far to be saved!

That doesn't mean that God's plan of Salvation is null, void and no longer the theme for the life of His children all over this earth. We have been commanded to "Go forth and spread the Gospel" and that commandment will reign eternal until He returns to take His church [you and I, His chosen and elected people] home, once and for all.

I believe that God has turned this nation over to the desires of their heart(s), and while 9/11 afforded us the last opportunity to get back to Him, as a nation, we failed miserably, and it is evident that this nation is being allowed to get exactly what their heart(s) desired when they went "ga-ga 4 Obama."

I know that many will disagree with this insight. However, it is nearly impossible to argue against this insight. There can be no other explanation. God has finally tired of the fickle spirit of the people of America, and the people of this nation, and all around the world, are finally reaping what the true desire of their heart has longed for, for so long!

I must say that scripture sounds a lot like me before Christ.
The world since the fall has been beyond revival with out Christ. Even us whether we vote one way or another or go gaga over some politician, left or right, are not beyond the grace of Jesus. Thank God for that because you and I Paul would be headed straight for hell.
The worst sin imaginable that we find the most detestable does not measure greater than our "smallest" sins, even the one's we commit before we really get our day going.
All sin and the fact that we are sinners keep us away from our Father if we don't have Christ and if He doesn't have us.

I have to agree with Spinach. For us to throw our hands up & say there's no hope for America is wrong. We as a country have to repent & turn from our wicked ways. When things begin to look hopeless, God has a way of turning things around.

Think about this too, missionaries usually go to places where you would think there's no chance of spreading the Word of God (because of dictators, strict government rules, & places that typically persecute Christians). What if they gave up & said "There's no hope for these people"? Then you'd only have a few select countries that have Christians.

Also, if you can remember, it took Jimmy Carter, for America to decide to get Ronald Reagan into office. This was also during the time that they had the Moral Majority Movement. Things might be bad now & they may get worse later, but when you've hit rock bottom, there's only one way you can go.

Individuals can plant. Individuals can water. But whatever individuals set themselves out to do, it is God that gives the increase. I don't thing God is impressed by our individual efforts. Those efforts are most likely selfish efforts done in expectation of spiritual reward or earthly gain, perhaps done only to elevate ourselves in our own opinion of ourselves. Those efforts are not noteworthy, they are what is expected of a child of God (our reasonable service). If there is revival, it will not come at the feeble, selfish, self serving work of mens hands. It will come by the hand of God as a product of the perfect will of God as established in his eternal decrees. I see nothing in scripture that points to any great endtime revival. Matter of fact I seem to remember more about a great falling away.

Yes we are to do our reasonable service. Yes, God can use that reasonable service to his desire. No, our reasonable service aside of God's providence does not produce anything.

I see what appears to me to be a major denial of this POSSIBILITY of God putting this nation under judgment. This attitude is reminiscent of that of the Jews in the OT when the prophets proclaimed judgment on them.

And no, this is not to say that it is fact, but looking at modern society, I find it hard to come to any other conclusion.

Granted, this is STILL (for now anyway) the best real estate to park on, BUT God doesn't look at how much we love this country - He is far more concerned with how we are (or not) obeying Him and His word!

I am in agreement with this. Look at what they did to Jeremiah. That generation did not think that God was going to let His Temple be taken by any gentile nation. Yet they did not repent of their sin and God used Nebuchadnezzar as His "rod".

When I think of God's sovereignty and power and love and mercy..... and how 'dependant' we think he is on us..... It is helpful to read Jonah. Now that was a case of a man with a calling who ran from it. God turns him around and makes him go where he didn't want to do what he didn't want to do. God said preach to Ninevah; Jonah said essentiallly what fore; what good will it do; they're worthless in my book so why send me there? God said preach warning and judgement except they repent. Jonah carried the message. Jonah didn't care about these people; he didn't love them; he abhorred them; he didn't care if they heard the message; he would have been content to see the message fail and judgement to fall. But God loved; God had grace to extend; God put Spirit behind the message and opened the ears and the hearts of the people; Jonah hated the people and preached in his anger and frustration, but God turned the message around and the hearts of the people were changed and they repented. Judgement was postponed upon that gerneration. Jonah had accomplished that which he was sent to do although the outcome wasn't what he wanted or expected. This angered him more so he went out of town...... angry, defeated in his own purpose, and ashamed of the outcome and brooded and brooded in his anger. The sun came up and beat down hot. Perspiring and exhausted it fired the heat of his anger even more ..... but God grew a plant to shade and cool his anger and protect him from the heat. Ungrateful, Jonah noticed nothing until a little bug was sent by God to cut down the plant, then Jonah was furious for the lost of his shade. God spoke to him ....... and to us and left a message regarding his sovereignty, love, mercy, and judgement, and values .........how we, too, sometimes ....... make that frequently, need adjustments in attitude.

Can God bring revival? Sure...... if its in his will! The question does lie...... in the IF. We can know a few things which give us insight..... that God has said that his spirit will not always strive with man......he has patience which is beyond our understanding but he also has his limits: We know from historical record that people were often unaware of the visitation of his grace and forebearance and warnings of judgement and, when they neglected and the time came for his judgement to come..... it came suddenly and without further warning. We also know that it is not God's will that any should perish..... but some refuse to be redeemed..... and his judgement and holiness requires satisfaction. We're either redeemed by the blood of the Lamb, or sold out to the slavery and bondage to sin and the deceitfulness of the devil. Eternity depends on our choice.

As for RD2, it was his personal opinion he presented, and whatever intent we can draw, we can acknowledge that he has concerns...... some which most of us can identify with...... and his concerns point to a need for reversal but an impasse' which he cannot even imagine as within the realm of normal possibility. Indeed I frequently think this is the case: I don't think any will know when that last straw is cut, fit for the fire...... and when it happens .......those of the redeemed may wish more judgement and fear and respect for God and warning about judgement and sin had been preached. Somehow, it seems impossible to appreciate the love and patience of God and the cost of salvation without first coming to an understanding of our own filthiness and inadequacy and underserving. We already live in such privilege, and peace, and prosperity..... even in these troubling times..... we have no real idea just how helpless, hopeless, and naked we are in his sight.... and we take his love for granted. Such an unthankful and unholy generation never before existed as that which we've become today!:tear:

Actually----------Billy Graham preached his first Los Angeles crusade in the year 1948--------which is still in the first half of the century----which would qualify it as the early 1900's---------anything after 1950 would be the late 1900's------wouldn't it???
