During his press conference today Obama said, “This kind of mass violence does not happen in other advanced countries.”

But this simply isn’t true. We have but to look to France only a few months ago when Islamists murdered 12 members of the staff of Charlie Hebdo magazine.

But there have been many, many other examples of mass likkings abroad.

Here is just a partial list of other mass murders in foreign countries…

July 22, 2011: Confessed mass killer Anders Behring Breivik kills 77 in Norway in twin attacks: a bombing in downtown Oslo and a shooting massacre at a youth camp outside the capital. The self-styled anti-Muslim militant admitted both attacks.

April 30, 2009: Farda Gadyrov, 29, enters the prestigious Azerbaijan State Oil Academy in the capital, Baku, armed with an automatic pistol and clips. He kills 12 people before killing himself as police close in.

Sept. 23, 2008: Matti Saari, 22, walks into a vocational college in Kauhajoki, Finland, and opens fire, killing 10 people and burning their bodies with firebombs before shooting himself fatally in the head.

Nov. 7, 2007: After revealing plans for his attack in YouTube postings, 18-year-old Pekka-Eric Auvinen fires kills eight people at his high school in Tuusula, Finland.

January 7, 2015: Islamists murdered 12 people in Paris during the Charlie Hebdo attacks.

April 26, 2002: Robert Steinhaeuser, 19, who had been expelled from school in Erfurt, Germany, kills 13 teachers, two former classmates and policeman, before committing suicide.

April 28, 1996: Martin Bryant, 29, bursts into cafeteria in seaside resort of Port Arthur in Tasmania, Australia, shooting 20 people to death. Driving away, he kills 15 others. He was captured and imprisoned.

March 13, 1996: Thomas Hamilton, 43, kills 16 kindergarten children and their teacher in elementary school in Dunblane, Scotland, and then kills himself.

Dec. 6, 1989: Marc Lepine, 25, bursts into Montreal’s Ecole Polytechnique college, shooting at women he encounters, killing nine and then himself.

Aug. 19, 1987: Michael Ryan, 27, kills 16 people in small market town of Hungerford, England, and then shoots himself dead.

He said "mass violence", not shootings.

Obama would rather lie than tell the truth anytime.

Great list of examples, but these are not "advanced"countries  Sorry Paris, Canada, Australia and England to name a few. In Obama's mind, even the US isn't advanced, per his past apologetic tours and speeches

You are a sad display of dishonesty, and represent the type of wickedness that bred this young man to think as he does.

The President qualified his statement and you are well aware that he qualified it.

President Obama said:
“At some point, we as a country will have to reckon with the fact that this kind of mass violence does not happen in other advanced countries. It doesn’t happen in other places with this kind of frequency

But because it helps your narrative that the black man in office is always bad and doesn't understand "your" country, you orchestrate lies. The same kind that conditioned a young man to murder 9 people.

Factoring in population differences, that's a lie as well.

Again pure wickedness in trying to paint a false narrative. You could factor in a lot of things and technically make his statement false. But he dealt with frequency , and his statement is correct.

Really? How often has this type of tragedy occurred in China, India, Indonesia, Russia, Brazil, Japan? All these countries have over 100 million citizens.

I am not surprised that Rev. cited a source that changed, dare I say lied, in it's title. Very dishonest of rightwingnews.com .

Here is what Obama said, “This kind of mass violence does not happen in other advanced countries.”

Prove it.......

Prove what? SNIP You've got that needed proof covered.

And frequency is measured in accordance with TIME, not population.

Screenshot-6_18_2015-9_43_12-PM.jpg

Dead smack in the middle there is a big ole 38 for the United States. So again, for those who don't know, FREQUENCY is a measure against TIME, not population.

And the US had 38 over that measured period.

SO the President is correct and you're SNIP out to breed the type of hatred that causes young boys to murder 9 people.

Wow. Simply amazing. You asked for proof. You got it. You reacted.....poorly. I'm going to go ahead and put you on ignore now. It's gotten to the point where you have ceased to be a discussion opponent and are now a poor sport troll. You were wrong and you handled it like a child.

For the final time. I've said it before and I'll say it again. God Bless Texas.

It can be either, as long as one also clearly states which method is being used. Frequency is often presented on a per-capita basis, and is often presented in total numbers. Neither way is a lie in and of itself, though both can be used to deceive.

The accusation in the final sentence, above, seems beyond what should be acceptable in this forum. It clearly presents as fact an intent about which the poster can only guess.

Frequency may be presented in a per capita basis. But it is NOT defined as per capita.

The President used it the way it is defined.

Then I'm in the company of many.
