President Obama warns about falling for Donald Trump’s ‘okey-doke’ during Indiana rally

President Obama has warned us about the newest threat of a Donald Trump presidency: Okey-doke.

It remains unclear what exactly okey-doke is in a political context, but as per Obama’s words, it relates to Trump and it certainly doesn’t sound too good.

“If we turn against each other based on divisions of race or religion, if we fall for a bunch of 'okey-doke,' just because it sounds funny or the tweets are provocative, then we're not going to build on the progress we started,” Obama told a rally crowd at Concord High School in Elkhart, Ind. Wednesday.

What a nonsense article. Talk about innuendo. It does not explain what Okey-doke actually means.

More foolishness. Yet folks act surprised that Donald Trump has brought to the forefront this type of foolishness from some in the GOP.

Let me enlighten you with a blast from the past:

http://www.progressive.org/news/2008/01/5995/obama-trounces-clintons’-racist-entitled-sc-campaign

The trouncing that Hillary Clinton got in South Carolina proved that the racist and entitled campaign that the Clintons ran there backfired.

The Clinton campaign kept saying, “He’s black, black, black,” as author and South Carolina activist Kevin Alexander Gray pointed out on Jesse Jackson’s “Keep Hope Alive” program Sunday morning. And Bill Clinton used coded language, like the “old okie-dokie,” which served to remind whites of Obama’s blackness, Gray added. That's like saying don’t fall for the old “shuck and jive.”
___________________________________________________________

So It's alright for Obama to use "coded language" and nobody says a word. Now , I ask you,
what mental picture does the term "Okie Dokie's conjure up among his adoring acolytes? White trash? Ignorant, sod busting hillbillies? Rednecks?

What is the real difference between labeling people as "Okie Dokie's" and using the despicable "N" word?

You have not explained the meaning of the phrase. I don't think you know what it means.

(BTW, the phrase is okie doke, not okie dokie.)

I know you can read, so you must be being deliberately obtuse.

So be it.

You'll have to take up the missed spelling with Progressive.org., but they "knew" the meaning. At least they pretended to for their political purposes. But they wouldn't dare apply thet meaning when Obama uses it, would they? Just let it slide on by.

Bless me. Carpro is using The Progressive as validation of his argument.

Anyway, Obama warned his audience with a colloquialism, apparently common among African Americans, that Trump is a huckster, a mountebank, a fraud. Unfortunately, the broader audience may not have gotten the exact reference, but in context it's pretty clear he's saying Trump is a scam. Sounds about right to me.

Thank you rsr.

The mic has been dropped on this foolish story. Certain folks want to frame the President as racist because he's black. And making him a racist helps them to feel better about their own racism and racial prejudice.

I STILL don't know what this means - "okie doke" is a reply to connote agreement - "Will you drop this off for me?" "Okie doke!"

So it's code word to mean "same old"? Obama was saying something like the usual "okie doke" meaning racist attitudes? Anybody know?

Its an expression I have heard black comedians use when they are vicariously making fun of white men imitating the way we talk and the expressions we use. I admit it's very funny.

As far as I am concerned comedy is an acceptable social tool to use in order to point out our behavior that offends us both but without our full knowledge of what we are doing.

IMO Comedy is a vehicle which can be used to minimizes the racial tension that still exists among us.

No, the phrase you are looking for that means "I agree with you" or "I'll do that for you" is Okie Dokie. Pronounced Oh-kee Dough-kee.

The phrase Obama used is Okie Doke, pronounced Oh-kee Doak.

So it's code word to mean "same old"? Obama was saying something like the usual "okie doke" meaning racist attitudes? Anybody know?

Yes, I know what it means. I want to see if Carpro knows what it means.

I've never heard it used like that. Not saying it hasn't been used like that, just that I've never heard it thusly.

This thread is a classic baptistboard politics thread. In other words, a dumpster fire.
