Obama Should Have Spoken Sooner About Plane Terror Attack

And if he did, I'm sure people would be complaining that he spoke too soon. Out of all the reasons to be critical of Obama, this is way down on the list.

I speak with some authority on the issue. I'm flying to DC in January on business.

How does flying in a plane give you any special authority on whether or not the President spoke too late or too soon?

It looks as though Obama has NOW fallen into the same creek of chest-high-water, but, I'll bet dollars to donuts that NO ONE will criticize Obama for taking more than 72 hours [3 days] to address the nation about this near miss terrorist attack.

Plenty of folks will criticize him for it. Unfortunately it won't be the mainstream media. The only thing they will hook on is that "extremists right wingers" are criticizing the President.

Being a professional business traveller, airline security is very high on my radar. I'd be the first to get bent out of shape if I thought the POTUS should have spoken sooner on the topic.

Should Obama Officials Be Fired Over Failed Terror Plot?

Yes, the whole lot of them, and we don't really need a TSA. After all, the first responders who handled the problem weren't government agents. But, of course, the solution will be more regulations to be forced upon everyone who's not a problem under the pretense that it will "prevent" a terrorist attack. Let's see if government can actually administer justice upon the terrorist that failed in this most recent attempt or whether it will just be another gold mine for the lawyers of the civil courts.

Cheney Attacks; White House Hits Back
By PETER BAKER

The White House fired back at former Vice President Dick Cheney on Wednesday, accusing him of making “untrue” allegations against President Obama and charging that the former administration allowed Al Qaeda to thrive while it diverted attention to Iraq.

The latest back and forth escalated an already partisan exchange that has consumed Washington since the attempted terrorist attack on an American passenger jet on Christmas Day. Republicans have attacked Mr. Obama and his administration for not taking terrorism seriously enough while Democrats have accused Republicans of voting against funding for better security.

Despite his protestations to the contrary, Obama will continue to be seen as weak on protecting the country from terrorists.

Why? Because he is.

He has systematically dismantled the Bush apparatus through appointments of unqualified cronies and intimidation of intelligence officers.

Obama fundamentally altered the culture and risk-taking incentives of the intelligence community with policy and personnel changes. The sense of urgency is gone, and he's made it uncool to call the war on terror a war at all. If he wants to treat terrorism like a criminal act, rather than an act of war, we should not be surprised when the results look a lot like the bureaucratic foul-ups that happen all the time in law enforcement. He gutted the Homeland Security Council coordinating role, he diluted the focus of the daily intel brief, he made CIA officials worry more about being prosecuted for doing their jobs than capturing terrorists. He's so worried about the political consequences to his administration of a terrorist attack on our home soil that he denies the obvious -- that Major Hasan is a jihadist terrorist -- and he wants to shut down GITMO and bring terrorists here. He's made it his business to turn much of the national security apparatus set up by Bush and Cheney upside down and has succeeded....
