Obama is such a liar. Hands down the most dishonest President in American history. History will not remember him well.

So far, Right, there has been no rational reply, so there is nothing to respond to. I guess they think their replies are cute, but surely not intelligent.

Um...I thought Scarlet's was rational and intelligent. Begs the question of why you pulled up a 2014 quote instead of something relevant to today.

Correction. It's not what SOME people want. Others are just fine with what he's doing.

But, regardless of who wants it or not, to make an end run around the law making branch of the government is wrong, regardless of who has done it before.

This is not a dictatorship where the ruling party or potentate, no matter the political affiliation, gets to make the rules.

Because nothing has changed. The Republicans are so divided they cannot present a rational bill. They are so scared of the far right wing they cannot do what needs to be done to help all Americans.

So, Obama's statement is as appropriate today as it was in 2014 ... maybe more so.

He's utilizing the authority that CONGRESS has given to the Executive Branch. If they don't like it, then they should change it. But they won't because it would make it impossible for an elected GOP President to do the same things that Obama is doing.

He is doing the same thing that Presidents before him have done. So the question has to be asked why it is viewed as tyrannical and dictatorial with this President and not with others?

Zaac, about your 2nd paragraph, this is what I write:
But, regardless of who wants it or not, to make an end run around the law making branch of the government is wrong, regardless of who has done it before.

So I think that is exactly what I said.

About your first paragraph, that power is not congress's to give regardless of how inept the control of the congress is. It is a power not given to the executive branch.

I get that Tom. But I ask again, if he's doing exactly what every President before him has done with the power of Executive Orders, what's all the fuss REALLY about?

According to modern Constitutional Law, a executive order of the President must find support in the Constitution, either in a clause granting the President specific power, or by a delegation of power by Congress to the President.

So Constitutional Law experts tend to believe that it IS a power that Congress can delegate to the President which is consistent with the great number of EOs made by previous Presidents.

So again, what is REALLY behind the anger from the GOP and folks who have voted GOP about this President doing what Carter, Reagan, Clinton and GW Bush did far more than he has?

The GOP is against it because it is not them doing it.

I am against it because he's wrong in the direction he trying to force the country. If you're for it, that's fine.

About finding it in the constitution, this President sees the "general welfare clause" as carte blanche to do whatever he wants. And to be honest, I think modern constitution ideas are not what counts. What counts is what the original framers meant.

We're not going to agree about this. you are okay with what the President is doing. I think he is a wanna be dictator.

Pretty much.

I am against it because he's wrong in the direction he trying to force the country. If you're for it, that's fine.

What direction should he be trying to take the country? What direction do you think he's trying to take the country?
About finding it in the constitution,

I didn't say it was in the Constitution.

this President sees the "general welfare clause" as carte blanche to do whatever he wants. And to be honest, I think modern constitution ideas are not what counts. What counts is what the original framers meant.

And how do we conclude this from EOs without concluding the same thing about every President before him who has utilized the EO more?

We're not going to agree about this. you are okay with what the President is doing. I think he is a wanna be dictator.

Nice try but i didn't say I was okay with anything. I just want to know the real reason behind you and others and all these dictator claims when I didn't hear anything like this when other Presidents have done the same.
