Uhhh...so if there's no problem with straight men and gay men living and showering together...and there's no problem with straight women and gay women living and showering together...then why do you have a problem with men and women, straight and/or gay, living and showering together?

That's obviously not a straight (unintended) comparison. Men are still men, women are still women, whether they call themselves gay or straight - and if they are willing and able to follow the rules, it shouldn't be a big deal.

I don't know. I think I would rather know which guys are h0m0sexu@l instead of it being a secret. If there is a problem it took place 17 years ago when closet g@ys were accepted, not now.

No but the embarassment from someone gawking at you remains the same...

Had a guy I worked with at a vebnding machine manufacturer get forced out because he complained when a gay stood on the toilet in the stall next to him a gawked...

It wasn't PC to reprimand the gays behavior...

But, the straight engineer lost his job over it...

Without recourse or unemployment!

At this point, I don't believe you're being honest in your thought process. You're setting a double-standard.

Why do you have a problem with men and women living and showering together? If they're willing and able to follow the rules, why is it a big deal?

I'm assuming that you have a problem with this because of the sexuality involved between men and women; if that's incorrect, then please explain why it's not okay.

If my assumption is correct, then the reason you don't think it's appropriate for men and women living and showering together, also applies to gay men living and showering together, and gay women living and showering together.
-----
Added: And of course, the obvious conclusion: It also applies to gay and straight men living and showering together, and the same for women.

So why is it not okay for heterosexuals to live and shower together, but it's okay for heterosexuals and homosexuals to live and shower together?

Current events tempts one to speculate as to whether we are living in those days spoken of in which Satan has gone out and deceived the nations, gathering Gog and Magog to the battle, compassing the camp of the saints about. If so, can the fire of God be far behind? (See Rev 20)

But then we could say that this trend is present only in the decaying Western world. For example, I've heard that many of the African countries that have large, growing populations of Christians are becoming MORE traditional/conservative in contrast with the Western corps-nations.

So maybe there is hope in the world.

But in America?

This is not going to happen any more than inappropriate acts toward females by male soldiers. In fact, probably way less. Gays don't just stand around looking for straight men to gawk at, in my experience, and I've had to room with homosexuals more than a few times as a collegiate musician.

In any event, the situation you describe is clearly an issue of enforcement, which likely won't happen in the military.

I've been in the mandatory sensitivity briefs...

And, what you share is wishful thinking for those with-in The Government, The Military or major corporations like Apple, Inc.

Believe me, it's better if you don't know. There is always the chance that that guy looking you over is not really gay and the rumors about him are false.

DADT was a compromise that everyone -everyone who didn't have a political agenda that is -could live with and it has worked pretty well.

And it's not only about males. I've known at least one female who asked for, and recieved, a discharge because she couldn't deal with all the female homosexual activity going on around her.

What it comes down to is that we had a deal and the gay lobby and the Dem Congress welched on it.

In case you did not notice, the question asked was:

"Is there any place you would rather be?" Do you think the USA is the best country to live in? This question is a simple yes or no?

I wish to be here as long as God wills. That is the best place to be.

As far as my appreciation for this country goes, I am glad that I can live and worship safely for the most part, but if that were not the case, it wouldn't threaten my faith.

Objectively, there is no reason a Christian should think this country the best place to be.

By your logic, then I suppose we should just have all the gay men live with the women, since they're not going to be making passes at any of them or going around trying to sneak a peek or cop a feel.

And let the gay women live with the men. Same thing goes, I guess.

Nope. This isn't so cut and dry, and unless you think it appropriate to ban homosexuals altogether (which I certainly don't), it's just going to have to work.

My guess is that, if anyone, it would be the gays who would be all worried and uncomfortable about it.

Thanks for this post! See all the complications?

Yes, it would be much easier to just ban all homosexuals from the military. I think it is completely appropriate.

Not sure why you'd want to ban a bunch of able-bodied, able-minded people just because someone's worried they'd make a pass at them.

Not sure why you'd want to ban a bunch of otherwise able-bodied, able-minded women just because they are pregnant

Not sure why you'd want to ban a bunch of able-bodied, able-minded people just because...

Here are some disqualifying items (some are for prior service)

Hey, you're the one that's implied (and not stated otherwise) that men and women can't live and shower together because of sexuality; but you believe that even though there's a sexuality issue, it's okay for gay men to live and shower with straight men.

I'm just the one pointing out the hypocrisy of your thought process.

And if your only solution is exactly what you proposed, then we need to get started NOW building the housing arrangements...and figuring out how we're going to accomodate this in the austere deployed locations...etc., etc.

and don't forget that the military tries to segregate by cigarette smokers and alcoholic drinkers.....
Specifically, a troop under 21 can not room with a GI over 21, if he chooses to drink.

Someone tell me if that policy has been changed in recent years.
